Brother's wedding in about 8 weeks, I'd better start looking for something to wear...

I just don't have a clue any more, haven't been to a wedding in years

I'm 5'3, size 14, ample norkage.

Has anyone seen anything halfway decent? I fear I'm too old for the lovely wee dresses I've been looking at. (will be 39 next month)

Please help....!

I am a similar size, what i normally do is go into Monsoon or Coast and find a style that suits me, then search ebay.

Well, you sound exactly the same size as me and this dress is lovely on. I bought it for a wedding, but it's very close to the BM dress colour, so now looking for something else. There are a few nice dresses on that site though, am planning a visit to our local Bravissimo shop this weekend to try on some others.

I feel like I have been trawling the shops and websites for weeks with little joy- it's hard to get a good fit when you are ample of norkage. Shift dresses don't work well, I find- chin/chest merge not a good look. Strapless also not usually substantial enough. V-neck/ wrap dresses are often a good bet.

Phase Eight are often a good fit , I find, but this season's dresses are abit too lairily patterned for me.

thanks....I do usually do the Coast or Monsoon thing but TBH can't really afford to spend that much at the moment!

Inertia - I like those Bravissimo ones and had a scout around their evening dresses, might try to go into town to try some on.

what do you think of this? does it maybe look a bit naff?

Not naff, especially if your colouring suits bright colours - though personally I find that tulip style skirt accentuates my fat arse unflattering.

I got a Coast dress for £30 off Ebay, in the outlet shop, it's worth having a look, Coast won't sell anything unless it's perfect, some of the dresses are imperfect, but only have the straps missing etc.
