My pores are reduced, my skin looks much better - people are noticing, want to know how?

I'm 40 - odd and have always had an oily t zone, but in the last few years my pores have been craters. My chin was a sea of craters, red and blotchy, loads of open pores around my nose, around my number 11's - the only part of my face that was ok was my cheeks.

About 10 days ago I bought some Alpha H from ebay, just a 50 ml bottle rather than the regular size from QVC it cost about £8. I started using it every other night. Then I got a sample of the Clarins oils and put some of that in my Neils Yard night cream that I was already using and used this on the nights that I didn't Alpha H.

In the morning I use a glycolic cleanser that I already had and use a hot muslin to remove it, followed by a Garnier simply essentials toner £2 as MrsMartin keeps banging on about how alcohol free toner is so great. After the toner I bought Aldi double lift anti wrinkle cream followed by Aldi wrinkle stop on any wrinkles, I cant remember how much they were but not a lot. I also use Aldi caffenine eye roll on in the morning as it feels so lovely and cooling and my existing eye creme at night.

I've spent about £18 on all the new things altogether and honestly the results are amazing. My chin is much less red, the pores are much smaller and clearer. Overall my skin tone is more even and my t-zone is far less oily. I used to say that Bare Minerals looked terrible on my skin and made the pores look worse, but now I've tried it again today and it looks fab. All I need to do now is buy the Clarins oil as the free sample is running out.

I still hanker after a Clarisonic, but in the meantime for very little outlay and few premium brands I've made a huge difference.

I have just started with alpha h too and have to say my skin after 3 applications does look and feel a bit better.I am also trialing this ocm thing and am using vitE oil in between cleansing and moisturiser.I am V excited as our new aldi opens next week (have probably just give myself away if anyone else lives where a new one is opening but ner mind) and will be trying this cream that I have heard about as am tight fisted and refuse to spend a fortune on a moisturiser :o

oh sorry should have said I am 40 odd too and have combination skin with spots that I did not have as a teenager Angry

NotMostPeople · 09/03/2012 12:57

Ooh you have a whole new world coming soon if you have an Aldi opening. I've saved a fortune since moving here.

As for the spots, me too must be hormonal.

Interesting, what glycolic cleanser do you use?

I'm toying with getting the Elemis tri enzyme wash as recommended by mrs Martin, but am still undecided.

I've just bought Paulas Choice BHA lotion and AHA 10% resurfacing lotion and retinol wrinkle cream-will see how I get on with these.

Which Clarins Oil are you using? Would it be suitable for oily skin? Again I'm thinking of trying a facial oil but am a bit reluctant due to my oily spot prone skin. I usually avoid all oil on my face, it does make me break out, oil cleansing brought me out in under skin boils, I'm scared facial oil will do the same.

Mordechai - I have an MD Formulations glycolic cleanser I bought it at least a year ago and it's still going I was using it about half the time and a dermalogica cleanser the other half until that ran out. The Clarins Oil I've got is the one for dry skin, which I'm sure was a mistake from the sales assistant as she kept talking about the one for oily skin and I didn't realise until I got home. It feels lovely, but I'm wary of oils too which is why I'm only using it at night on the days when I'm not Alpha H-ing.

Thanks notso, will have a look at that cleanser and see how it compares to the Elemis one on makeupalley.

I had been using a clinique eye cream, but that has nearly run out and I'm going to get the Aldi one next as have heard good things about it.

OhdearDH · 11/03/2012 16:03

Is it Alpha H cleanser or mask or something else you are using? Been looking at them and don't know what to buy! My pores are really bad :(

QuietOhSoQuiet · 11/03/2012 16:22

ohdear I am using alpha H liquid gold and after just a few applications my skin is looking better. It smells quite chemically. If you buy it then get it from QVC as their policy is even if you have used it,if it is no good for your skin then you can return within 30days (minus P&P of course)

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 11/03/2012 21:11

What the hell is Alpha H?? My skin sounds just like the OPs and I'm desperate to sort it out.

TerraNotSoFirma · 11/03/2012 21:19

Alpha H is a fab product and I would second the poster who recommended elemis tri enzyme wash.

I am wanting to try out Dr Perricone products, Anyone had success with them?
