Why can't I find a boy's shirt with a nice bold print which isn't stripes or checks?

Hi, hoping someone can help. My sister's getting married in three weeks, and I am looking for a long-sleeves shirt for my 1-year-old DS to go under a navy linen three piece suit. I want a nice bold print, preferably something a bit quirky or failing that floral, to dress it down a bit, in size 18-24 month, but am drawing a massive blank. Can anyone help?

I didn't think I was being too fussy, but apparently children's clothes makers disagree ...

I know exactly what you mean, you can't find them for love nor money.

My 7yo DS has a thing about 'loud' shirts . He has had a few Hawaiian style ones in the past and they've been from places like Gap and John Lewis.

Car print? This one it pretty cute and would go with navy blue

polarn o pyret car shirt

Argh, just saw the 'long sleeves' criterion. Blush

CroissantNeuf · 08/03/2012 17:05

oops -I missed the 'long sleeves' bit too. Sorry

JumpJockey - thanks though Smile. I think April is possibly too chilly for short sleeves unfortunately. (Plus I also don't like car prints! Maybe I am too fussy?)

Monsoon & Gap are the obvious ones, but long sleeves are probably not "seasonal" now. Maybe try ebay??? All my sons best shirts have come from Gap & Monsoon via nearly new sales (you might be lucky to have one near you, before the wedding - check on the NCT website)

Alternatively H&M always have a nice selection of plain coloured long sleeved fitted T's which would be quite nice under a suit. (my two live in these) H&M also often has the one or two really fab items that everyone will ask where you bought it from - but you do have to pop in frequently.

And John Lewis always do really lovely retro print long sleeved vests, which might work under a suit for a 1yr old (the tucked in look???)

Otherwise maybe try on folksy for an independent maker - folksy is UK based. Etsy is US based and although it also has UK sellers, it is quite hard to search by location and there wouldn't be time to buy from the US.

welovesausagedogs - wow, those milliemanu ones are bang on the money - but more than twice the price I was hoping to pay . . . The JojoMamanBebe one might do though.

GetOutMyPub - I have found a few great Monsoon ones on ebay, but have been beaten on the bidding each time. I also love H&M, but have my heart set on a button down shirt.

There is an independent boutique which does great print boys' shirts, and has a made to measure service, but I think I'll end up paying almost as much as the milliemanu ones. Here it is.

welovesausagedogs - thanks, some great ideas there! And more importantly, some links to great websites I didn't know about before.

Thanks Thanks to everyone!
