Long enough tops

Where can you buy t-shirts/tops that aren't short but aren't great baggy tunics?

I'm only 5'7", but long in the body and big of boob, so that most tops (M&S, Gap, Boden...) just aren't long enough.

With low cut trousers they risk a distressing gap, and with higher cut skinny trousers they look all wrong.

The White Company had a nice-looking long henley long-sleeved t-shirt, but it was stupidly expensive so I dithered and it was gone.

I tried buy some long vests from Long Tall Sally for layering, but they were bad quality fabric and went floppy.

H&M

H&m maternity do some vests and long sleeved thirst that are tight all the way down, but long line. They wash and last really well and they're cheap!

BearlyThere · 07/03/2012 18:35

I find they are all a lot longer once i lose weight!
and dont tumble them
i got the boden striped affair and its super long

QueenCadbury · 07/03/2012 18:43

Some of dorothy Perkins t shirts are 70cm in length which I find great as also am long in the body. Otherwise Dorothy Perkins, top shop and next do a small range of tall stuff. I agree m&s and gap aren't great for the likes of us!

southeastastra · 07/03/2012 18:56

i buy h and m too, though they are long they are a bit see through but great for layering, usually £9.99 for two as well

southeastastra · 07/03/2012 18:58

also american apparel do lots of lovely longer t shirts

MandyT68 · 07/03/2012 19:10

Long Tall Sally tops are longer in the body and the arms. Good for knuckle draggers such as me!

iguanadonna · 07/03/2012 20:23

Thanks for all the tips!

American Apparel looks hopeful (though blurgh to the over-sexualized ill-looking teenage model photos) and I've remembered they have a shop in the city where I live.

If you're ever in the US, stock up on Splendid, J Crew, or Eddie Bauer. You can get the first two from Net a Porter (and maybe elsewhere too). They will all ship to the UK but customs fees and postage might not be worth it for t-shirts.

woopsidaisy · 08/03/2012 07:34

Boden have started doing some longer line tops. I am pregnant at the minute, but have bought this one and this one. I am 5'8'', and they are lovely and long!

woopsidaisy · 08/03/2012 07:34

I also have big norks! Smile

MadameChinLegs · 08/03/2012 07:42

Grin came on here to say H&M but was beaten to it. Even their non maternity is long, I was able to wear it through my pg (upped a size) as it was long enough to cover my mahoosive bump.

MadAboutHotChoc · 08/03/2012 15:06

Noa Noa have fab long t-shirts/vests/tops, lovely quality for around £15-20.

iguanadonna · 08/03/2012 20:50

Brilliant, some of those Noa Noa ones look perfect. Have you bought online? Which shop? Thank you!

Bought mine from a shop - their website should have details of your nearest shop.

LolaAnn · 08/03/2012 23:31

Ummm cough new look tall vests are fab. although one of mine is obviously a bit low quality as the side seam ends up in the front when I wear it.. but I desperately need some more and they are very flattering so thinking of repurchasing...
www.newlook.com/shop/womens/tall/tall-3pk-cotton-vests_219243409
3pk for £12.99 but only size 8......

startail · 08/03/2012 23:46

Dotty P top I'm wearing is pretty long.

Cloudminnow · 09/03/2012 11:31

I have this problem too, but have found that layering with Extra Long M&S vest tops is a solution (they are in the lingerie department and in all different colours). Also Primark coloured lycra-ish tee shirts serve the same purpose, as I find they come down quite long.

iguanadonna · 13/03/2012 21:13

Right, I've ordered some of the M&S vests. Will see how they are. Thank you!

Secong primark. They have some good long cami vests and long sleeve T's etc. Nice range of colours (brights and neutrals) and cheap, the quality of their plain long sleeve T's isn't as bad as the rest of the stuff they sell. I also use them for layering under other things.
