I want (but can't find) a nice yellow dress

I've always fancied a really nice daytime yellow dress but I've never really been able to find the right thing. I'm thiking I can only need 1 yellow dress in my wardrobe so it needs to be perfect.

My desire was reignited this morningw hen I got an e-mail with this on it. It's far to dressy for me to buy but reminded me of something to look for.

Colour wise I think it's perfect - deffo needs to be a lemon yellow (not banana or neon - YUK!)

Has anyone seen anything similar on their travels?
I'm pear shaped if that helps.

I'd spend some time having an Internet trawl. This should be your season as pastels and lemon yellow are really "in". Neons are too! Have you ever used shop style? It's useful for this kind of search.

Massimo Dutti have a stunning dress in with a yellow lace top & nude skirt. Tis beautiful.

Ohhh thanks FauxFox, comments are:-

I quite like the HOF Alexon one but think it might be a bit formal for a day dress plus it's quite expensive.

The river island mes one is nice if it didn't have a see-thru middle - I have 2 children, no one should have to see my stomach!

The other river island ones are ok but I'm not good with too much fuss or detail near my face - the bow neck one is the best of the 2 other RI ones.

I've looked at ASOS and don't like any on there.

Also thanks Moneysmama - I quite like that one but I'm not sure how it will sit with my shape - I think I'd deffo need a belt round it - might have to order it to try.

I thought the same about the RI mesh one Grin for the cheapness though it might be worth a try-on and if nice in all other respects you could get someone to sew in some backing (or do it if you have a sewing machine - would be quite easy i think)?

Unfortunately I look like death in yellow so I won't be getting it...

La redoute catalogue thing has just landed on my doorstep and it has 2 yellow dresses on the first page.... will try and find a link. Not sure if they qualify as "nice" or not!

sweetheart · 07/03/2012 10:58

Hmmmm you make good points FF, It looks like it might need a belt which would cover the mesh bit. might be worth ordering to have a little looksey.

Still on the hunt for the perfect one though Wink

mrspink27 · 07/03/2012 10:59

ha ha... dress

FauxFox · 07/03/2012 11:03

floaty?

sweetheart · 07/03/2012 11:32

Thanks Mrs Pink but unfortunalty none of those are really my style.

FF - WOW, love that dress but

  1. It will be too long on me - I'd like something knee length or above and the reviews of that says it's calf length on someone 5ft 9 (I am only 5Ft 5) - I could get it taken up but
  2. The reviews say it's see thru!

Gutted - it's defo a good example of what I'd like though.

Look on ShopStyle and narrow it down by colour. There are loads. Karen Millen and Monsoon have a similar style.

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 07/03/2012 11:50

goodasgold · 07/03/2012 12:04

I saw a sea of yellow as I walked through M&S yesterday. I didnt really look as I was trotting to the food hall. Worth a look.

whats your colouring?

sweetheart · 07/03/2012 12:09

Not exactly high quality but cheap and cheerful Grin

I'm fair with blonde hair and blue eyes. Apparently a "summer" or "cool, light clear"
