What do you wear on top with these lovely coloured jeans that are in the shops?

I am 14/16 in jeans but an 18 on top with large norks. I really like them but not sure what to wear on top over the summer. What would look best do you think?

I'm currently wearing a longish v-neck black t-shirt. When it's sunny, I wear a beige (neutral?) one.

My jeans are teal and I'm debating being a brave colour-blocker and adding magenta.

Have just bought some long scoop neck vests to wear when it's warmer.

There are some nice ones on the M&CO website that someone posted last week. Blue, green and red. I like them all but need to be sure what I am wearing ontop. In summer usually a vest top and cardi so I assume that would be ok.

Long navy tops. Cant do bright on top and bottom scared face

MadAboutHotChoc · 06/03/2012 15:45

Can't do bright on top either - white/grey/navy/black (plain or striped) with brightly coloured skinnies.

dingdong3 · 06/03/2012 16:53

I wore mine the other day with a short sleeved fitted denim shirt - left open and a white long sleeved top under. I have also worn them with a cream loose sheer top from H&M - wearing a vest underneath and a blazer over. Agree that you should wear something less bright on top otherwise you look like you're concerned about being run over in the dark Grin

I've just bought this top to go with some very similar blue ones.

FrozenPetisPois · 06/03/2012 17:52

Do people think it's worth buying pastel shades, or will I get more wear out of brightly coloured ones?

FrozenPetisPois · 06/03/2012 17:53

My comment is referring to the coloured jeans, rather than the top Smile

dingdong3 · 06/03/2012 18:36

I would go for bright ones personally as you'll get year-round wear from them. and pastel harder to carry off unless legs are your skinniest bit.

gregssausageroll · 06/03/2012 18:53

I take it my leopard print pumps are ok with these jeans too?

Bah! Really want some coloured cropped jeans for the summer but Uniqlo don't deliver overseas - any other reccommendations??? Thanks

dingdong3 · 06/03/2012 21:52

Yes to leopard print pumps. Usually work well.
warmwollen have you tried Gap?

TerraNotSoFirma · 06/03/2012 23:54

I like a grey marl top with bright cobalt blue jeans.
(Don't have either but I like them)

CointreauVersial · 07/03/2012 00:01

I have some teal jeans and wear them with white or grey tops. Navy would probably work too.

Teal is quite a good colour - I feel like I'm dipping my toe into the bright jeans trend without being too lairy.

jammydodger1 · 07/03/2012 07:53

Blue, green, red jeans all in at the moment Im told by dd tan is sooo last season she says and colour clashing is all the rage, green jeans with blue strippy blue sailor top looks good, bright pumps to finish?

Rassy · 07/03/2012 13:14

As I say, only mothers of the bride colour match!! Grin

BearlyThere · 07/03/2012 16:47

It's vey hard. I found bright blue ones impossible.
Won't make same mistake.

hobnob · 07/03/2012 18:10

I bought some bright pink ones in Gap. Haven't worn them yet. Do you think I should change them for lilac?
