Security stickers on cosmetics

Just a rant really- i can understand the need but when i peel off the sticker it leaves horrible sticky glue mess and quite often you need to remove it or you can't open the actual product, today i treated myself to the l'oreal primer, eyeshadow and new lippy and now i've removed the security stickers the packaging looks tatty. I'm wondering how to clean it off, perhaps nail varnish remover?

Urghhh I have just spent ages picking open the wrapping on a new mascara - I use nail varnish remover to get rid of the stickiness.

This stuff is fab. It can sometimes leave a bit of an oily film, but far preferable to the residue left by bastard stickers.

I often use furniture polish to get sticky-label residue off, too.

It's all I keep it in the cupboard for really, as I never actually polish anything

Works brilliantly. Smile

Wd40 will do the trick!

Lots of useful “ solutions “ but why do I have to spend 5/10 mins cleaning sticky residue off every lipstick I buy ?

Parratha · 29/01/2025 14:05

I keep trying to remember to ask whoever is on the till to remove the sticker for me before I buy it. If they can't then I won't buy it. (To be honest I haven't done it yet.)

Superdrug's stickers are the absolute worst, and they are almost always obscuring the usage instructions or the ingredients. It happens across all their shops, so they're either put on at a central hub or the staff are doing it that way on purpose! Hmm

Yes, I hate those really sticky labels on makeup and other products.

It's worth complaining as TK Maxx labels used to be awful but they seem to have changed them recently due to customer complaints. It actually stopped me being able to give things as presents because they either ripped the packaging or left such a sticky mess behind!
