DD admired a pair of these on dress up day last week at school.

Apparently they cost £55!!!!

Anyone know somewhere to get them for a somewhat smaller price?

unless they are on ebay then your best bet is getting them in a sale. I worked for russell and bromley years ago and they sold like hotcakes. They are more durable than you would expect them to be and you usually get a free gift with them (eg a plastic mobile phone with kids lip balms in). Personally think they are hideous but they are like louboutins to a 6 year old girl!!!

I got some from Charles Clinkard here in the sale. They have boots in the sale at the moment, but next sale around will probably have more summery stuff. Although the cheapest canvas shoe is £39.95 if that is any good?

When my dd wore them, I'd get her feet measured at the local Lelli Kelly emporium and then look on Ebay for a cheaper seller. You do have to know what size she is LKs, as they differ from what would be her normal size. I've had a look and here's a cheaper pair I found (without knowing what size your dd is, of course). They are pretty hard-wearing, even with crawling around, kicking, scuffing and whatever else kids get up to.

DD is 4 and I can still get away with the imitation ones that Dunnes have had for the last few years. We are in NI, so not sure if there's a Dunnes near you, but they're only £14. DD is in hers already this year so I'll buy another pair soon in the next size up to take her right through the summer.
When the time comes that the imitation doesn't work, I'll be looking on eBay

We don't have a Lelli Kelly shop locally so not sure how I'd figure out what size to get!

In UK DD's size is 8.5E (at Clarks etc). Anyone know how that would translate into Lelli Kelly-esque?!

You would need a size 26. Don't think new season stock will be on e-bay yet - they should cost between £42 and £47 - £55 sounds above the RRP.

Bought some for dd yesterday. They were the beaded canvas (they really are the Mardi Gras of shoes) for £45 which seems average. They are excellent hard wearing and can go in the washer many times and come out well. Also when they get a little tight the leather insole is removable so you get a little more wear time out of them.

I haven't seen them cheaper but l'll be checking out EBay myself from now on.

They come up very narrow. I had terrible trouble finding trainers for my daughter, she's an E fitting, and they were the only ones that didn't slip off her feet. Had to go up half a size as well.
