Capsule wardrobe? Opinions please.

I came on this topic about 8 weeks ago looking for advice because I was feeling very dowdy. I've got an 18mo DS and I'm 24, 5ft 8 and a size 12 (14 in trousers where the length is regular). I got a few ideas for stores from you all, and after careful consideration I have made my choices for a capsule wardrobe.

Now I'd like your constructive criticism on my shopping bags.

Your shopping bags don't show for me. The reiss one is empty and the boden one is full of stuff I've put in mine lol

PamPerdbrat · 04/03/2012 19:33

Ah ok, hang fire! I shall do it all separately. There aren't loads and loads.

Love the bag and dress but not so sure about the other things. What would you wear the jumper/trousers/cami with?

shopalot · 04/03/2012 19:42

I love everything and wish I had your budget for clothes ;) but didn't see your last thread. Is this a capsule wardrobe for being a SAHM?

PamPerdbrat · 04/03/2012 19:45

cardi

vest

skinny jeans

skirt

tea dress

dress

blazer

leggings

That's the Boden bag. Not tried Boden before, but had it recommended on here.

mrscampbellblack I would wear the cami with the trousers and skirt from Reiss, or the skinnies from Boden. I'd also put the Reiss skirt and jumper together and mix the jumper with the skinnies and skirt from Boden. I'm just lusting after that skirt, tbh. Or, would you ditch the cami and swap it for the white tee they've matched the skirt with on the model?

shopalot it's my first blow out clothes wise for 2.5 years so its not something I'd usually do! I am a WOHM though; the white trews and dress are for working lunches/nice days out, never to be seen by DS!

Ah, it makes sense now!!!! I was thinking the white trousers may not be the best! I love it all. Sounds like you have thought about what works with what!! The only thing I find is that I don't get the chance to wear my "smarter things" so tend to spend more money on my everyday things IYSWIM

PamPerdbrat · 04/03/2012 20:01

shopalot I have quite a few 'nice' things to wear out and about, it's been an effort to find nicer everyday bits as well. I've heard great things about Boden leggings though, and for £40 I hope they're amazing!

OP posts:
shopalot · 04/03/2012 20:07

I've not tried those leggings. I have the usual ones which last really well. As you are a newbie to Boden you do know that you never pay full price for anything....there are always 15% -20% off codes floating about.

PamPerdbrat · 04/03/2012 20:10

Oh yes, they posted me a voucher for 15% off plus £10 discount on this order, hurrah Smile

OP posts:
shopalot · 04/03/2012 20:19

Lucky you. I didn't get a voucher and I spend loads in boden :(

PamPerdbrat · 04/03/2012 20:20

I dread to think where they got my details from!

Mind you, I filled my basket and then left it a few weeks, so it was almost like they were prodding me to buy.

louby78 · 04/03/2012 20:42

shopalot have you tried writing an "Imagine my horror" email to Boden asking why everyone has a voucher but you? I've been sent a £5 voucher and I spend quite a lot there but they've sent a voucher to my maiden name for a tenner!! I obviously haven't shopped under that name for years so they must be trying to entice me back!!!

Love your things in your basket. Fab bag. I have that jersey skirt from Boden in black and it's brilliant. Really good quality and versatile. I too have the thinner leggings which are great. I think you'll really like Boden. Stuff is really good quality and outlasts stuff in my wardrobe from other shops like Zara and White Stuff. And if it doesn't wear well they are amazing at returns. Great customer service.

LOVE that tea dress too. I wanted it but with 3yr old and a 1yr old dry clean is not an option!!

novelsituation · 04/03/2012 20:50

i tried the reiss hula skirt in blue today. it was gorgeous. Love the blue bag, too.

PamPerdbrat · 04/03/2012 20:50

louby gosh, thank you so much for your flattering comments!

I thought everyone was going to hate what I'd picked! I showed it to DH and he just sort of grunted and went 'yeah s'nice'. Hmm

I've really gotten into Boden's S/S12 collection; I was not loving their A/W11. I've heard good things on MN about Boden, although some people seem to be a bit scathing; you know 'Boden mummy' and all that, I was worried I'd look a bit frumpy.

OP posts:
PamPerdbrat · 04/03/2012 20:52

I love the nude peep toe heels they've got on a lot of the models; but I've got some snakeskin peep toes from Zara that I got last year which will go nicely too.

novel ooooh I love that hula skirt! Was it above the knee or on the knee on you?

OP posts:
novelsituation · 04/03/2012 20:56

Pam it was on the knee, not above. ( I'm 5 foot 5). I loved the colour and cut but worried that the pleats would get very crushed when sitting. Am stiil sorely tempted though...

mirpuppet · 04/03/2012 20:58

I like the hula skirt but it is 100% polyester so seems a bit pricey.

Your other picks are fab; nice capsule wardrobe.

PamPerdbrat · 04/03/2012 21:26

novel I'm 5ft 8 so think it'd sit just above the knee?

OP posts:
novelsituation · 04/03/2012 21:38

Pam I would imagine it would, but not much above knee. It hit the middle of my knee cap.

Fluffy1234 · 04/03/2012 21:47

I love the bag but not to keen on the Boden prints as they look a bit too 'Bodeny'. You are young enough to add a few funky bits.

PamPerdbrat · 04/03/2012 22:47

Oh do you think so fluffy? Can you think of any bits? I like to keep the funk Smile

Perhaps a tribal print vest or top to go with your skinny jeans and leggings to give your spring capsule another look.
