Has anyone had their fingernail pierced?

I fancy getting something pierced but don't want the pain! MY DH doesn't think a nose ring or earring high up on my ear would look right on me! I had my ears pierced at 16 so have kind of forgotten the pain. But I figure there is no pain in the nail! I just imagine it getting caught on stuff! Anyone had a pierced finger nail or even a fake nail with a peircing? Just an idea.

Lol I did this as a teen, it was all my own idea and I pierced it all by myslef

I used to put small charms through the hole, tiny bracelet charms I guess and it looked great. However... You cannot do anything, even putting your hand in a jeans pocket for change can lead to embarrassing hook ups! You need incredibly strong nails to cope, it doesn't last, it increases the risk of ripping the nail... I rhink that is it!
Personally I would do it again for a night out or something but not as a fixture the way I used to have it.

Yes I did my own in my early twenties. Had a tiny silver ring through the middle finger nail.
I had long nails, strong and well kept. Looked fab. Every now and then I'd cut the nail shorter and re do the opposite hand until the length grew back (and so on)

I also used to do this as a teenager, on my little finger, I had a small silver spider earring that I used to put through, it looked dead nice.

WordsAreNoUseAtAll · 03/03/2012 22:43

Used to do it as a teenager. It caught on absolutely everything, and made my nails break, but was nice while it was there.

wow thanks so much ladies.

Thought people would all think it sounded unusual and wonder why a grown up woman wanted to get peirced! I don't want my body done or anything but I figured nails were different.

I found a fab photos, it's the fourth picture down "Purple Nail Ring for Pierced Nails" at www.naildesigners.net/nail-accessories-for-pierced-nails-2011/

I know it sounds crazy but I kind of feel a bit staid in my old age and long for a bit of glamour but with the amount of laundry I do I wonder how it would all end!

I personally think it looks pretty dated - if I saw anyone over 15 with it I would assume they were caught in a time warp (please don't hate me - it is my honest opinionBlush and if you are happy with it who cares what anyone else thinks?). Nail art is making a huge comeback...especially gems/special paint effects and foils-much more modern (I'm boring classic with my style and stick to block colours so not into any kind of nail art but think it can look good on others).

OrenIshi · 04/03/2012 02:39

Don't get it done on the hand you wipe your bum with.

peggyblackett · 04/03/2012 04:02

I think it looks naffola. Sorry! If you want glamour go for a really smart block colour, or failing that a wrap e.g. minx.

Orenishi :o.

Finallygotaroundtoit · 04/03/2012 06:10

Don't forget that teens don't do much. It will probably last 3 mins.

I know someone who has raised flowers stuck on her acrylics - swears never again cos they catch on everything and look grubby

SoupDragon · 04/03/2012 07:40

I think it looks ridiculous.

cornsilkalala · 04/03/2012 07:41

surely it would get stuck in stuff and interfere with important things like eating creme eggs.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 04/03/2012 07:47

All I can visualise is catching it on something, ripping my nail off. Ouch.

wickedfairy · 04/03/2012 10:36

I thnk it looks dreadfule. Sorry. Obviously that is my own opinion!

wickedfairy · 04/03/2012 10:36

Along with my dreadful spelling..... Sorry - I really should preview.....

tethersend · 04/03/2012 10:43

I think it looks great.

As long as you're Snoop Dogg.

Looks ok for gothy teenagers but slightly pathetic for adults, sorry!

Italiangreyhound · 04/03/2012 20:15

Thanks for all your comments.

I love your honesty and I think you are probably right about the annoyment factor! I had a bracelet on my right arm a while back and it really annoyed me because it was one of those Avon treasure bead ones that dangles down and in the end I took it off cos it was so annoying. Maybe I would find nail art the same!

It's great to get your comments. Maybe I can get a stick on nose ring and avoid the pain!

here or here

Thanks

Fingernails pierced?? Ye Gads I am positively ancient, never heard of the like. Clearly this fad must have passed me by the first time around Grin

Sorry but all I can think of is "ouch". Mind you I've only had my ears done.

ENormaSnob · 05/03/2012 19:08

Sorry op but this looks so dated now IMO.

I would think you stuck in a 90s time warp.

Italiangreyhound · 05/03/2012 23:06

In all honesty maybe I am a little dated!

I am all into the fake nose rings now!

I think it looks grim - just put a nice colour on your nails! Maybe I'm boring... :)

BonfireOfKleenex · 06/03/2012 09:57

God when I first read the thread title I thought you meant through your actual FINGER - definitely no no no no no to that!

I've never seen a pierced nail, have obv lived a sheltered life but the pics look grim. And how would you type? Confused
