quick question about nails and nail varnish.

I always have painted toe nails, i think unpainted ones look grim. You can get away with it in winter, but in the summer, there is no excuse.

My problem seems to be that my big toe nails go very very soft and discolourerded from this though and i have to wait before it grows out before it goes away.

Then its summer again and it happens again.

Does anyone have any magic solutions?

( and its not some sort of fungal nail thing, because the nail grows looking normal, its just where its had constant varnish on)

Are you using a base coat underneath? Try some of the hardening nail polish base or top coats eg from Sally Hansen.

nope, im not. does that help though? someone said something about its because they get no air, is a base coat not just another layer?

You need to use a base coat.

Beauty therapist at your service! :)

We use this in the salon, it seems to work well.
Make sure you're using a decent base coat and a non acetone based nail varnish remover.

thanks.

Lack of base coat sounds like its definitely the problem, especially if you use dark or bright colours, they will stain your nails! Think of the base as a protective layer between your nail and the coloured nail varnish.
