Buying jeans online - is waist or hip measurement more important? And which size should I order?

Spotted a pair of jeans in a sale online that I want to buy BUT the size guide has me totally confused. They are 'low rise' (but not super low) skinny jeans. I am an 8-10 but according to the size guide if I order the size 10 to fit my waist (28 inches) then the hips will be 4 INCHES too big Confused and if I order the 8 to fit my hips (34) then the waist will be 3 inches too small.

I am NOT an odd shape, just a bit skinny, and I refuse to believe that my hips are a smaller size than my waist.

Is the size guide lying to me? Or is that why they're in the sale?!

Where are they from? Some jeans can go baggy so you may be best with the smaller size.
Envy @ size 8 skinny jeans

If they are low rise they won't be on your waist.
Can you get skinny jeans size 8 over your thighs as they will be slimmer each size you go down. I have to buy jeans a sixe bigger as my thighs as a size bigger then my waist and hips

Could you order both and then return one pair?

I don't know what I usually am, I am a skinny jeans virgin!

I have a really long body so you're right, they probably won't be on my waist but I want them to be comfy for daytime.

It's House of Fraser so will be tricky to take back.

Bloody jeans shopping!
