Returning shoes

Bought shoes online from TKMaxx and they don't fit. I walked around the house in them and of course they picked up some stuff from my floors. I've brushed off what I can and they look OK to me but not never been tried on before.

I intend to return to a shop and was wondering how much inspection the staff will make before saying that I can can't have my money back?
Any experiences?

Sure tk maxx don't have carped in their shops and the shoes are scuffed soles anyway.

I used to work in shoes and would advise customers to try at home and if not good return. It will be fine.

Thanks for reassurance! I hate returning stuff especially if I am not absolutely confident about where I stand. Should have hoovered before trying on but was v. excited about new shoes...
