I am ridiculously style challenged. Espadrilles question.

I am gigantor, 5'10", size 20-22 with feet of ridiculous proportion (9).
I need a reasonably tidy outfit in June and don't want to spend any money.
I have a lime green and a white linen skirt and a white linen shirt thing with buttons up the front.
I am considering buying a pair of red espadrilles and a red t.shirt.
Would that look hideous with the lime skirt and white shirt?
I can take criticism.

I would think maybe navy would look better than red.

cybbo · 01/03/2012 14:46

I dont like espadrilles AT ALL

I think they look cheap, cottony and get all squidged out at the bottoms and show where your toes are. PLUS they are not smart.

Get some red wedges girlfriend! And ditch the white thing with the buttons

ripsishere · 01/03/2012 14:51

Sorr, when I said espadrilles, I mean canvas (open to other material) wedges. Not too tall, I can look drag queeny at the best of times.

The buttons aren't huge, it's more like a shirt than anything else.
I've only worn it once so I'd like to give it another outing.

like this?

And THANK GOD you didnt mean the flat ones

ripsishere · 01/03/2012 15:02

Lovely, except they are coral. WTAF is coral. New look have a branch in our local shopping centre, I"ll pop in.
I do have around 5 or 6 pairs of proper espadrilles Grin flat things.
I am a bit concerned about the height of those though. 4.5 inches. I would really look like a he she.

You really wouldnt. Strut in, wear lippy.

cybbo · 01/03/2012 15:05

coral is orangey red

ripsishere · 01/03/2012 15:18

[vom] not so sure about orangey-red, I really like scarlet.
I only own one lipstick, and trust me, I do can look like a female impresonator.
So, navy would be the way to go it seems.
You really are a helpful lot.

At the risk of butting in, are you absolutely committed to red with lime green? Frankly, it sounds like a big risk. Navy is a great suggestion, or perhaps something like bronze/pewter if it's a glam event.

KandyBarr · 01/03/2012 19:15

these suede espadrilles have more structure than the canvass type so should avoid the horrid toe-shape thing that cybbo mentioned, and they have a lower heel.

More expensive, though.

ripsishere · 02/03/2012 06:32

Of course I'm not absolutely committed to red, I am not absolutely committed to anything.
Navy sounds like a much better option and somthing I could wear again.
It is my DDs confirmation in a cathedral. DH will fly over and wear a suit - much easier for men. I just wanted to avoid the 'bought it off Warrington market shiny look'.
Thanks for those Kandy. They do look rather nice.
