Hi hambo.
Not sure if these are at all what you had in mind, but I bought these from office and they have been fab all winter. Great with dresses for work, and skinny jeans at the weekend. They also work with tunic etc.
But they may be a little heavy now that we are in the Spring?
I wore them with turned up skinny jeans at the weekend, and they come in brown also. Not many left though....
You may get more responses if you give your budget, size etc. Smile

You are most definitely not too old. I'm 38 and I've just found this topic and it's made a huge difference to me, my wardrobe and my self-esteem. People have started commenting on how nice I look (I was stuck in a rut). I've lurked a bit and trawled through here for tips - and it's great.

I've begun following dingdong's blog (here), too - and she has some fantastic tips.

hambo I am no fashion expert but I really like those LK Bennett ones...

Or if you are unsure and wanted to try out a copy/something similar rather than spending quite that much - there are these

These are OK. But MrsCampbellblack has alerted mn to the existence of some v. nice ankle boots in this style in New Look.

The style, and a number of variations thereof, is also in Russell and Bromley - with matching bags. but the R and B website is pants.

I think this style is better for spring and goes more easily with both trousers and dresses/skirts. It's also very forgiving on those of us not gifted with long, elegant legs and slim-line figures.

From a quick look at your links (not all, so firgive me if I'm wrong) I think the style you're currently loking at can make the less willowy and etiolated amongst us look a little short and fat of leg.

Thanks for the mention slapme Grin
I love the ASOS ones you linked to..that's all I need is more temptation!!

But now I've worn my black ones so much, I really want a brown pair. And I'd have never worn ankle boots before..now I'm hooked on the look. I get so many compliments on them too. Knee highs banished to the back of the wardrobe!!

partyhats · 01/03/2012 21:20

I have gone off knee highs, don't seem to suit me for some reason, perhaps because my legs are thin and weedy. I love ankle boots though and I think they look more modern, particularly the short western style with a stacked cuban mid heel. The Acne pistol boots are lovely but there are lots of copies on the high st like the Topshop Ambush. Also there are a lot of Marant Dicker lookalikes too like the Asos ones linked to above.

hambo · 01/03/2012 21:36

Thanks! Am off to look at all links and snoop about some web sites....

They're nice, aren't they dingdong? I like the chocolate or the grey ones and they're reduced, so it's almost rude not to... Grin

hambo · 02/03/2012 17:28
