Thick hair - can't seem to rinse clean when washing

Can someone tell me a shampoo which strips residue off hair and is easy to rinse off?
I have long thick hair which I normally only need to wash every 4 days or so. But after washing it last night - standing up in the shower - it seemed a bit sticky afterwards on the top of my head.

I let it dry overnight as usual and styled this morning but there were strands clumped together which looked like my hair was greasy but was probably unrinsed conditioner. I got through the day (telling myself it was like having a deep conditioning treatment!) and tonight I washed my hair again. Twice. And it still feels sticky.

I just don't seem able to rinse it clean at the moment. I'm using the same conditioner as usual and don't really put it on the ends. But I have recently bought a new Elvive shampoo in a pink bottle so that could be the culprit. I want a new shampoo. What should I use?

Yes yes, I know exactly what you mean!

I have long, thick, fairly curly hair and this happens to me sometimes. I find only putting conditioner on the very ends helps.

As you say it's worse when slept on - in fact I've learnt not to sleep with wet hair AT all any more, I only wash it in the morning these days. I know this is a pain but I find it less hassle than sorting out the residual shampoo/matting. I could probably get away with only washing twice a week and my hairdresser has told me to do this but I am ttc at the moment and washing it after doing the deed (sorry if tmi),

I'm not mixed-race but there is a shampoo called Mixed Chicks, sadly only available online, that I have found to works wonders in this regard. It lasts for ages though and Amazon delivers it pretty sharpish.

Hope this helps!

I have thick shoulder length hair and find that I cannot let it dry overnight or it doesn't dry properly underneath and then feels greasy. So I always blow dry it before sleeping.

I use Mastey Traite shampoo.
