Smart Casual for 10 year old

My 10 year old ds, needs to be dressed smart casual this weekend.

He's got a pair of beige chinos (only trousers that fit other than jeans), what type of shirt/top can I put with this that doesn't look like he's forgotten to wear a tie, and still makes him look like a boy, not trying to look like a man?

Also what colour shoes (only has trainers that fit so need to buy him some) go with light beige chinos?

TIA

I think a check shirt open over a t-shirt is a good option. There's a nod to smartness, but he'll be comfy and can take the shirt off if he likes.

Some converse-style trainers in navy will go with anything.

Or a striped shirt.

It's what my boys usually wear when required to get out of their pjs smarten up a bit.

Trainers not allowed, or even anything hinting to being trainers. But like the shirt over t-shirt idea.

button down shirt
plimsolls or boat shoes?

Would something like a Timberland or Caterpillar boot be acceptable? Or a biker style boot?

Thanks for those links faux fox. Think I need to get myself down to next pronto.

He doesn't like boots, but think those plimsolls from next look smart enough (esp for first wearing Wink) but casual for him to wear at other times.
