Coloured bootcut jeans?

I'm 30, 5ft 2, size 12 with generous thighs and skinny calves. I like the look of all the coloured jeans around at the moment but they only seem to exist in skinny fit!

Okay, so I know most of you fashion policewill say just wear skinny jeans but believe me, I've tried them and carrot stumpy legs are not a good look!

So has anyone spotted any that are more flattering and won't make me look like a lumpy wannabe teenager? Am thinking cobalt blue or dark red/purple. High street budget.

I think there are some in John Lewis but they looked rather matronly.

If I were you - I'd buy some white ones (more of those around) and dye them in the washing machine.

Gap have coloured boyfriend style - not boot cut but nice and slouchy. Have just bought a pink pair.

TBH I'd probably steer clear of colored bootcuts, they suit the look of skinnies much better.

I was just wondering this last night! Come on high st shops, you're missing a trick.

I don't blame you for not wanting to reject bootcuts altogether - my body shape, with hips perceptibly narrower than my shoulders + tall means that skinnies make me look like an elongated parsnip - but the bootcut/coloured combo isn't great.

I love the Isabel Marant's, second fom the right, though...

These are slim fit but not skinny and give a bit as you wear them. I like the pinkish ones.

Those "slim contour denim" are trousers that get smaller as you go down. That's the opposite of bootcut. I'd accept straight-leg if they looked nice, but I don't want to wear tapered trousers.

There's something extremely Rod, Jane and Freddie about those Classic Collection red jeans.

God , those Classic Collection jeans are HIDEOUS. If that is what the aspirational shot looks like, imagine how truly dreadful the majority of normal folk will look in them. And they are ankle flappers.
