Has anyone bought anything on Etsy?

I'm looking for a 40th birthday present for a friend of mine and I've found this and this but I wondered is the quality generally a bit hit and miss, and if I'm not happy with the items, do Etsy offer and support (I'm thinking along the lines of Ebay, if something goes wrong with a sale they'll step in and help sort it out sort of thing)

Oh, and do you like those necklaces? My friend loves anything unsual, she's not in to pretty girly stuff, just unusual and striking.

Yes I have , Headfairy, I bought a couple of necklaces and some earrings, they were beautiful and arrived with no problems but as far as I understand it, they're all individual sellers so I don't know if there's any seller policy. I would definitely buy from Etsy again though

Yes. A few times and everytime I was pleased with the product and service - but I guess that is going to be down to individual sellers. I definitely would buy fromEtsy again though.

Hi hf
I like etsy abd have bought. Don't like the metal colors of that though. I bought a copy necklace of a Courtney cox cougar town one from a seller based on California. Was nice.

Yes, I bought a print from Etsy. Wholly good experience and I would buy from the site again.

I haven't used Etsy, but have bought from Folksy a few times, which is the British version of Etsy I suppose. Been very happy with them...

headfairy · 24/02/2012 21:05

bearlythere which one didn't you like the colours of?

peggotty as Folksy is UK based manufacturers is the postage lower? Must go and check it out.. I hadn't heard of it before.

I like bright silver. Unless that's her style of go plainer. My seller was called Luna cielo. Just remembered.

Yep a lovely stacking ring set, and I also had a patchwork quilt made which is incredible

I bought some hair clips and love them. They were also cheap enough to slide under the radar of customs and immigration.

I buy and sell in etsy. Has always been a positive experience.

I've bought a few things from etsy and been really pleased with them. You can read feedback from previous buyers. I would buy from them again.

I love this jewellery which my friend makes and sells on Etsy, she gets lots of lovely feedback and I've bought a fair few pieces as gifts.

I bought my wedding ring and engagement ring from Etsy. I love them. I spent ages trying to find a seller who sold what I wanted and then she custom made for me. You do have to be careful of tax/duty/customs if buying from the US. I don't know the rules exactly but if the item is over a certain amount you'll have to pay extra to have it imported - I had to pay direct to UPS when they delivered. Just choose the seller wisely. I have only ever had lovely experiences buying from Etsy.

I make and sell on etsy and bought several unusual christmas presents last year.
Very impressed with them and excellent quality - both from the UK and America.
There is a small filter on the left hand side to only show UK sellers if you wanted cheaper postage or quicker delivery.
