Hello all!

OP posts:
pickledsiblings · 25/02/2012 22:34

Just purchased the complete series of MSCL. Will watch it in one sitting save it for DD, along with seasons 1-6 of Dawson's Creek.

pickledsiblings · 25/02/2012 22:54

Oh my NY, what lovely places. No 1 slightly out of our price range but will investigate the area further - thanks! Link 2 doesn't work for me.

IceCreamCastles · 25/02/2012 23:14

Pickled- I was an 80s child- of course I had a shell suit! My sister and I had matching ones from c&a Grin Blush

Have stayed up too late reading 'nothing to envy'- thanks or recommendation NY. However am slightly Envy that you only get charged 20p by your library whereas I paid the princely sum of 50p. Humph.

blossoming · 25/02/2012 23:29

I was more of a Heartbreak High girl. Hic.

MidnightinMoscow · 26/02/2012 06:19

Morning all.

I love reading about everyone's childhood fashions. I had a C&A shell suit too Icey - I loved it!

I was also obsessed with Anneka Rice from Treasure Hunt...and begged my mum for this blue all in one suit thing from Tammy Girl. I used to run around the house wearing it, alongside my Dad's massive 70's headphone shouting 'Stop the Clock". I believe I did this (minus the headphones) outside of the house too. Blush.

Marsha shame about the scarf not working in the end, but I love the colour of the MIH's.

Hope you are feeling a bit better today Amber, and manage to get a little rest.

Very wise coat purchase Scarf, and I admire your wiseness re the AH bag. Agree that you'll use the Alexa loads at the moment though with spring coming.

Hope both Bloss and Ollie had great evenings last night.

Red I love the Me and Em too, but just cannot justify at the moment. If you sign up to them you'll get 10% off for 10 days. Your outfit yesterday sounds lovely and sunny.

Hope you enjoyed the rugby yesterday Emo despite the result. Sore head today?

I have missed loads of other peoples news, I'm sorry.

Well, I ate a load of pineapple yesterday and we went for a walk and had curry for tea. Been having lots of tightenings and pain but nothing else. I wish I was as relaxed as Icey is.

My parents are coming today, wish me luck! Have decided to immerse myself in cooking a big lunch...my DM hates cooking so I'll be left to my own devices thank goodness. Planning on using my new Hugh FW veg book for the first time too...have heard good things about it.

Back later, happy Sundays all!

AmberNectarine · 26/02/2012 07:30

fat chance MiM my DH has now decided that he's relapsing so has retired to bed leaving me (5 nights of hourly or less wakings) to deal with the DCs. I am just so bloody fed up of never getting any rest I feel like I want to go up there and bludgeon him to death. I'm probably being completely unfair but I've been

AmberNectarine · 26/02/2012 07:40

Oh FGS...

but I've been operating on less than 4 hours sleep a night for 8 months and I'm a little strung out. Hope your lunch goes well today, and your DM isn't too U.

scarfi very wise to be forward planning, pistols are great.

ny stop posting holiday porn! We're not doing outside UK until Sept/Oct (when hopefully this kid will sleep through) and it's making me soo jealous!

Question for our colour experts: I'm having mine done this Sat and due to illness/general exhaustion I'm a lovely shade of grey (F&B might call it Muted Despair). Will the consultant still be able to diagnose me correctly?

blossoming · 26/02/2012 07:52

Oh you poor thing amber. I'm sure it will be fine. How exciting! Look forward to hearing all about it.
Hi mim, good luck today and this week, and icey too. Two of mine went over and I had to be induced. Was a mess, a bit like red!
I got up with DS and have written 11 reports of 55. I an hour and a half. It's going to take me hours isn't it?!

scarfaholic · 26/02/2012 08:19

Sorry Amber, but I had to laugh at Muted Despair. Would your mother be able to come and help? I hope your DH gives you a break later this morning. You poor girl.

Mim, sounds like it is starting to happen! Don't do what I did and refuse to believe things were progressing then end up in a mad dash to the hospital with 30 minutes to spare! I saw Anneka Rice recently, she lives in this area. She wasn't wearing her boiler suit though, I was quite disappointed.

DH is in bed and I am off to Westfield later this morning to return the AH bag (glad you think it is wise!) and maybe buy a pair of J Brands.

Portia4 · 26/02/2012 09:03

Mim hope that you get some movement today, my first two were both two weeks overdue and the wait was awful.

Scarf good luck with the shopping, I can't keep up with the purchases and returns! That coat is absolutely beautiful though.

Amber hope that Dh rallies today and that you get a break and maybe start looking more 'Radiant Rose' than 'Muted Despair'!

OllieinOrange · 26/02/2012 09:09

Morning.

Amber muted despair is an inspired description of skin tone suffering a lack of sleep. F&B take note! Sorry that its come to that though. Try and get lots of fresh air this week to put some colour back in your cheeks?

MiM good luck today with your parents. Cooking sounds good. Nice that I can now picture you in your lovely kitchen.

Had a lovely time with DH last night. We were laughing as sitting opposite each other, munching/chewing on spare ribs in a very noisy and busy restaurant wasnt the least bit romantic, good job we are a couple of old marrieds. We did share a giant soejes tho (huge chocolate covered profiterole) and pedalled home in a high gear. Smile. Back to being good food wise today.

Hopefully · 26/02/2012 09:19

Also Grin at Muted Despair. But no, it shouldn't stop the consultant being able to analyse your colours properly.

MIM we have the veg book, it's had loads of use already, really like it. And lots of quick simple supper recipes too (not that that's what you're after for today, but anyway...). Hope tightenings move on into actually having a baby soon.

I was insanely knackered after shopping in London yesterday - being ill plus 12 hours of trains/walking/shoppinng was not a good idea. Was so busy buying fabric for work (Liberty print, so it's not all bad news) that I didn't manage one single bit of shopping for me, apart for some gorgeous purple fabric for making a dress. I did, however, manage a quick grope of a Balenciaga. They are absolutely lovely. However, I have decided that actually I need a bag right now, not to save for a bag in four or five months (not that I'm ruling that out as well, obviously). I actually didn't have a handbag to take with me to London yesterday Blush as my usual day to day bag is a giant tote that is way to big for my needs. Has anyone come across Nat & Nin before? The bags look really nice, and the ethos of the company is nice too, but I imagine that returns are going to be a PITA, so don't really want to get it wrong...

MarshaBrady · 26/02/2012 09:37

Thanks NY brilliant, more links, will have a look later. Yy need more help finding the best place.
Back soon...

blossoming · 26/02/2012 09:51

I have cycled six miles to the far end of the lake and taking 5 minutes of peace and quiet.
DS is poorly, and mil, who stayed over, tripped on the stairs and is in awful pain. Now you see why I had to get out. Don't know quite how the rest of the day will pan out.

For all you calorie counters out there, Just saw in the ST the Style diet equivalent of the Roxy test ; 'Would it make my last-supper menu?' only indulge if the answer is yes!

In the v long que in Cos.2 women keep coming out of their changing rooms and walking round the shop floor looking for new things to try on whilst leaving their stuff in the cubicle. One has done it 3 times already. Im giving her my best Paddington hard stare!

AmberNectarine · 26/02/2012 16:36

Well, no nap as DH needed to go back to bed because his arms hurt (!?) but we did have a bit of a, ahem, discussion about the lack of support (which culminated in a bowl of baby porridge being thrown at him) and he has promised to buck his ideas up so I am currently in a nice, hot and crucially toddler free bath. Felt terrible but I just get so angry when I'm this sleep deprived. And needing to rest because your arms hurt? WTF is that? If they're not broken you're probably alright as far as I'm concerned! I love him so dearly but he can be a right wimp.

ollie that is not proper changing room decorum. I would have come over all British i.e. huffed and puffed but not really done anything.

Thanks for all your kind wishes, and especially annie with your great advice - that is definitely worth trying because an 8 month old does not need feeding every 2 hours through the night!

Hopefully · 26/02/2012 17:26

Amber I'm so glad you told him straight (how straight was your aim, though?! Grin). I wasn't sure whether to say what I really thought this morning as I don't 'know' you that well, but I think it's bloody ridiculous of him to expect you to survive on so little sleep and him not help out. Hope things improve.

Ollie love the idea of a Paddington hard stare. How rude of them!

Bloss hope your day improved after your bike ride and DS and MIL are ok.

Returned from v filling Sunday lunch at IL's. They are big portion size people (that is, they are big people, and have corresponding portion sizes), so even though I left half of my food I feel rather stuffed and uncomfortable. Hope the scales don't punish me too much tomorrow...

The good thing about lunch out is that DH and I always get to have a good chat in the car, which seems to be about the only time we get to have a conversation in peace, as at least one of the DCs always sleeps! It's so nice to have a proper catch up (which sounds ridiculous when we see each other every day), and chat about the hundreds of life/business/where to live options we have floating around at the moment.

AntPants1 · 26/02/2012 17:34

amber hugs. All of us understand how horrid sleep deprivation is. Do glad you thrashed, ahem, it out with DH! Hope bath was restorative.

ollie love love love the idea of a paddington stare!

bloss I hope your day improved.

We have had a wonderful couple of days in London. Sun has been shining and it has felt very spring like. A lovely taste of what I hope is to come.

Have bowed to the collective and ordered Me and EM dress and also the snakeskin Pied a Terre shoes.

Some lovely lovely lovely things in Massimo Dutti. Am planing a trip to Westfield when I have some time off in April.

notyummy · 26/02/2012 18:03

There is a reason that sleep deprivation is used as a form of torture (and forbidden under the Geneva Convention....have you pointed that out to DH Amber whilst warming up more porridge? Wink)

Can I ask those of you who swirl, buff, tap (or whatever way round I am supposed to do it...) if you used a more creamy undereye concealer as well? I have been experimenting with for the first time today (got it as a Christmas present but I have been a bit busy!) I like the look overall but I think it looks slightly dry under the eyes, and I feel I am missing the little lift that I usually get from my touche eclat.

So beautiful out there this morning. Pale blue sky and spring sunshine here too ants, it is so restorative isn't it? Then the lake was like glass reflecting all the mountains. I am seeing views I've never seen before, and know I'm incredibly lucky to live somewhere like this, as well as having a supportive-of-new-hobby hubby!

Mil drove home. She was in a bit of a state though. Feel awful for her.
DS has sort of recovered. He got into a bit of a temperature during the Wales England game, and admitted waking at 4am this morning. So hopefully both will be in bed at 7 tonight.

Glad you got it out of your system amber, and glad you got some help from annie.

MarshaBrady · 26/02/2012 18:26

I used the cot thing too with ds2. Well he hated it. So he soon learnt that if he didn't calm down that is where he would go. Given a choice between two things he definitely went for co-sleeping (but not bfding to sleep) over the cot.

Dh has found out this week just what it's like to look after the children. Seeing his reaction and tiredness I can't believe I thought it would be possible to do my own work that would end up in collections. I am really kicking myself over that and think it was a bad idea to try. Bah.

Anyway I have free days soon so will get back on it then. Just hope it's not too late. It's been years.
