Hello all!

OP posts:
MrsCampbellBlack · 03/03/2012 19:54

Gosh I wish I was as creative as you ladies - keep meaning to get a sewing machine - which would be good for a complete beginner? And also can you sort of teach yourself to make things?

MrsCampbellBlack · 03/03/2012 19:56

Amber - I can totally imagine you as a sultry winter Smile

Thought of you earlier after I had a strop in my kitchen after DH had come back from bike ride and left empty juice bottle on side and sprayed bloody tinned sardine oil all over the counters and not wiped any of it up - its these things that give me the red mist. And it was a lot lot worse when I was bf all the time and oh so tired.

blossoming · 03/03/2012 19:58

Your outfit sounds really cool today portia.

Lots of poorly dcs on the thread, hope they get better soon.

I hope you find a solution soon amber. Don't feel I can help at all, although did like decam's idea of throwing porridge. Very wise ladies on this thread Wink.

Well done vin, hope you got the flat you wanted!

Okay, I am still friends with MFP. Turns out I've lost 5lbs in 2 weeks with it. And that is on Mil's scales from hell, so it must be true. So back to the weight you will recognise me at from MU. Dreadful Christmas weight was slow to shift this year.
Celebrated with a raisin and biscuit yorkie. Hadn't seen one of them for years! After earning 800+ cals mountain biking. I tell you, it may not be true, but I'm not complaining!

blossoming · 03/03/2012 19:59

Hey amber, we could be twins!

blossoming · 03/03/2012 20:01

Sounds like a lovely dream verity. I picture you surrounded by beautiful things.

Lol at hopefully's comment re 'old ipad'.

Russianred · 03/03/2012 20:06

Do try them Hopefully, I would never have bought my jeans online but something about them lured me in in RL. Haven't worn them much, but hoping to when spring has truly sprung.

That is lovely MrsCB, thank you. i''m a complete novice sewing-wise, but have made quite a few things and it is easy to pick up. Would like to go to somes lesson though - I definitely learn from instruction.

Exactly as I imagined you Amber. Was it a fun day?

Hopefully · 03/03/2012 20:07

how exciting Amber! and glad it wasn't a horrible shock - must be awful to think you're an autumn and come out as a summer or something. Mine was a bit of a surprise as i had been diagnosed as a spring with colour me beautiful a few years back, but i had been kind of self limiting to the more autumnal colours from my palette anyway.

Bloss well done! that's great news. i have lost 3lbs since starting to use it, so am definitely also a fan. will be so good to get back to Shredding this week now that I'm feeling a bit less pathetic and anaemic (although did fall asleep in my chair for an hour after walking earlier Blush). was hoping to be about 3lbs lighter before MU but have accepted that's not going to happen and will settle for a pound or so off quite happily. especially since i have no idea what to wear so will probably be gling in my pants Hmm Grin

MrsCB i taught myself to sew entirely, did a bit of hand sewing for dolls clothes as a kid, but nothing since. there are lots of online tutorials and sewing books out there. janome, or the john lewis own brand machines (which i think are made by janome) are a good place to start. i have a husqvarna viking, which i love, just a fairly basic model.

Verity I am Grin at your childhood department store dreams.

Russianred · 03/03/2012 20:07

Verity I had a similar dream! I'd still do it now if I could. You should - you certainly have the creativity for it.

OllieinOrange · 03/03/2012 20:43

Oh Verity What a lovely dream. Id love to open a book shop which has a small cafe (selling shortbread obviously Smile) but it would never be financially viable. I would be hopeless at dealing with people who were sitting there, making a coffee last 3 hours whilst reading the books then leaving without buying one!

Watching Wallender which has to be one of the most depressing things on TV.

Bloss Ive already made a mental note not to pig out as much as I did this Xmas. Its taking forever to loose.
Amber glad you enjoyed your HoC experience. Colours sound good. Agree with the others about you always sounding very put together outfit wise.

MidnightinMoscow · 03/03/2012 21:57

That sounds idyllic Verity.

Ants I meant to say that I totally understand your post about DS's behaviour. When I have been putting in long hours DS 'goes off' me too, and appears very disinterested in me. It hurts, and is frustrating to see. Hope that after this busy spell you can retain a bit of a better balance.

Glad to hear the HoC was good Amber and that you are pleased with the result.

Enjoy the pineapples Icey. I made another curry tonight and even attempted the nipple tweaking - nothing. The baby probably weighs 20lbs by now.

Hmm, Dh polished the majority of a bottle of red off and then a couple of whiskys. He is pissed and thinks he is fascinating. I am sober and bored. Grin

pickledsiblings · 03/03/2012 22:19

MiM Grin. You sound remarkably cheerful. Is the baby wriggling around a lot in there? I remember with DS2 that I was very annoyed at how much he squirmed and kicked me - he was such a fidget!

Icey, you sound good too, enjoy your precious moments with DD whilst she is still an only Smile. I remember that wonderful feeling of falling asleep fully pregnant next to my girl.

Bloss, glad to hear that you and MFP are friends again.

Red, DD and I are working our way through My So-Called Life - I keep wondering if you had a bit of the Rayanne Graff about you at school Grin.

ApuskiMcClusky · 03/03/2012 23:17

A quick hello from me before I try to get some sleep with a stinking cold (it's not been a healthy 2012 in general, has it?!).

I have been keeping an eye out for any more baby news, hope it isnt getting too frustrating, I think we can all remember how it feels. And I am full of admiration blue at how you seem to be taking newborn-D
dom in your stride, and back in your jeans!

Vin, how lovely to see you, I am reminded of you when I use my yellow bag! I hope you got the place you wanted, and am very happy to hear your and for moving out. Then all your plans will have come together, which is amazing.

Amber, HoC day sounds great, I am a little envious of you being a winter!

I have temporarily abandoned MFP, I've been too unwell to make the effort, so I will need to get back into it again.

I can't believe how soon the MU is now!

ApuskiMcClusky · 03/03/2012 23:20

Grr typos..

I have actually done some shopping, some cashmere cardigans in the Brota clearance - navy, brown and a cheery green. Nice to haves but not particularly exciting.

ApuskiMcClusky · 03/03/2012 23:21

Gah, Brora..

MidnightinMoscow · 04/03/2012 05:47

Good morning, Hideously early start today from DS.

Lots of movement pickled, I can feel limbs at the front so he/she is still back to back.

DH has said we are going out for Sunday lunch, so it's lovely to just cuddle up on the sofa with DS this morning and a pot of tea rather than start the onslaught of chopping, boiling etc for a Sunday roast.

Back later, have lovely Sundays everyone.

AmberNectarine · 04/03/2012 06:52

So anybody care to guess who insisted it was their turn to have a lay in this morning? Truly I give up, there is no point any more.

Emo76 · 04/03/2012 07:19

Oh amber for god's sakes... How SELFISH is he being about this? I cross on your behalf. Very cross in fact.

Good to see you apuski and get well soon. Nothing wrong with some Brora bargains, such lovely quality.

pickles I am looking forward to box sets when dd1 is older.

I think I need to download this calorie counting app as i have been very head in the sand lately.

MidnightinMoscow · 04/03/2012 07:28

Amber he is being a total arse, thats the long and short of it. I'd be very tempted to go to your parents today, before he gets up and leave him to stew. Get some rest at your parents and then tonight sit down with him and tell him how things are going to be. Don't be frightened to state what you need from him, what you are asking for is not unreasonable.

Good luck and a big hug from me.

AmberNectarine · 04/03/2012 07:35

mim the bag is already packed. I'm just waiting for DS to finish his breakfast.

MidnightinMoscow · 04/03/2012 07:43

Good, get some space and have an enjoyable day at your parents, with feet up for a bit.

You will be able to resolve this, I am sure...just get some rest today.

XX

Decameron · 04/03/2012 08:02

Wow Amber, that really is the limit. Just not on. How old is your dh?

Mim, enjoy your lunch out. Pineapple?? Wink

Apuski, get well soon. DH and DD1 have Brora stuff but not me. I'd probably shrink it so just as well.

We went out last night (wore velvet MIH jeans, a MrsCB-inspired buy, and DH thought I'd lost weight, no, it's the magic jeans!) and DH told me that he feels very bad that we are not getting a cleaner anymore as my mother sat him down when we got engaged and told him I was not brought up to be anyone's skivvy. He is afraid of his MIL from beyond the grave! It really made me laugh.

Decameron · 04/03/2012 08:09

Not that cleaning makes you a skivvy, I hasten to add. My mother was just warning him as it took her a few years to get my dad to toe the line. :o

Portia4 · 04/03/2012 08:11

Oh dear Amber you really need to sort this, as a continued lack of sleep is so unhealthy, and that combined with justified resentment will just wreck your head. Can you sit down with Dh this evening and draw up a rota of what needs to be done , include bought in help and his contribution and maybe the reality of running a family will hit home. I know with my own Dh when ever I asked for help his attitude was to pay someone and it used to drive me insane as I didn't feel he pulled his weight at all. Once resentment creeps in it's very hard to get back out of again. You are also setting up patterns that will continue through your life ie Portia up cleaning, rest of family in bed!

Do enjoy your 'day off' today at your parents.

Hopefully · 04/03/2012 08:13

Bloody hell Amber he is ridiculous. Hope you get some rest and are able I have a proper adult conversation with him about it at some point soon. Please remember you are not asking a lot, he is behaving like a twat in this regard.

Hugs and sleep vibes to you.

ApuskiMcClusky · 04/03/2012 08:46

Amber, I agree with the others snout having a serious talk about this tonight. On the tricky subject of lie-ins, from experience I'd suggest never waiting until the morning to decide who's lie-in it is; even if you don't have a rota, agree who will sleep in before you go to sleep. If he's bad at waking up, he's more likely to be selfish in the morning if it hasn't already been agreed. I speak as the one who has selfish tendencies over lie-ins in this house, agreeing the night before means I pull my weight.
