Due to have baby number 2 soon and sick of looking like a sack of shit, can anyone recommend any style blogs/sites so I can start planning a major overhaul of my 36 year old frumpy self??

Here's a few recommendations
Mine shameless plug, I know Blush
StyleGuile
The Frugality
Suburban Style
Good old WIT

dingdong3 · 24/02/2012 19:08

Oh, and I'm sure you don't look like a sack of shit...that's the hormones talking. You'll be grand once you've ditched the maternity wear and got the sandals out for a Summer of maternity leave! Good luck with No 2 Smile

otchayaniye · 24/02/2012 20:22

Sartorialist

I think she's a bit John Lewis, but wearingittoday is popular

Lily22 · 25/02/2012 08:37

I absolutley love dingdong's blog, I look forward to it every day but maybe that's because she seems to wear exactly the kind of thing that I would wear. I've already made a couple of purchases based on items talked about on her blog!

CagneyNLacey · 25/02/2012 09:58

Ah thanks guys, will bookmark and have a good look tonight.

I actually do look like a sack of shit, dingdong, but hopefully your blog will give me ideas on how to look like a human female again Grin

Aw, Lily, thank you Thanks! I'm so chuffed to hear that. Makes all the hard work worthwhile Smile
I've been the sack of shit after a full term ginormous twin pregnancy and being made redundant but I used these S&B boards and watched other groovy mums over the past 3 years. Still learning and loving it...join the fold Grin

Lily22 · 25/02/2012 22:25

Ah ding dong, you're most welcome. My girls are 6, 4 and 2 - I feel like I am finally able to get interested in what I wear again after a long time wearing tracksuit bottoms and jeans!

You even shop in Primark - you're my kind of girl ;-) Between you and MN, I'm going to be turning heads everywhere I go from now on :-)

StyleGuile · 26/02/2012 18:10

Hello CagneyNLacey (I used to LOVE that prog) hope that you are feeling better about yourself now and that your plans for your style overhaul are well in hand. I will be posting lots of outfits from my style event later this week which may help and you may like what I have planned for tomorrow's outfit. Three children down the line and I know how you feel!

Thank you to dingdong3 for recommending my blog. That's so kind of you. I will drop by and say "Hi" tomorrow.

slapmeonthepatio · 27/02/2012 17:24

I've become a huge fan of dingdong's blog, too. I check it daily and it really has given me lots of ideas and inspiration (I had become stuck in a SAHM rut and wore the same old things all the time). I now know what to do with a scarf and I've even bought some ankle/shoe boot thingies! Who'd've thought? Thank you dingdong.

CagneyNLacey · 27/02/2012 19:15

Ah thanks Style, I've been looking at all the blogs linked to and am feeling much more positive already! Also been lurking on the 'how to be groomed' thread and have ordered lots of stuff due to excellent posts on there too.

I like this one:

Style Bureau

Easy to read, nice and clear and lots of links to stuff actually in the shops at the moment, unlike some annoying ones where you just can't find anything!

dingdong3 · 27/02/2012 20:07

Thank you slapmeonthepatio Thanks and ta for the giggle at your name again :)
I think there's nothing better than noseying at what other people are wearing - it's one of the best ways to work out what you like and what from the shops might suit you. Giving away a lovely scarf for March - starting on Thursday's post so keep an eye out :)

sansucre · 27/02/2012 20:13

Really wanted to like The Frugality but it's so dull and I suspect getting hits because she works with/ is friends with Wearing It Today.
I lost a huge amount of respect for her over with her stance on fake Eames DSW chairs. If she wants to real mccoy, save up and buy them, don't make do with fakes; its a false economy, she could have put the money spent there into the real thing and its disrespectful to the legacy of the designer.. I bet she'd never buy a counterfeit handbag so why do the same with furniture.

I quite like WIT, The Sartorialist and use Polyvore and Net a Porter/My-Wardrobe for outfit inspiration. I also pay attention to women in the street and lucky to work somewhere central and close to a lot of stylish ladies!

ChablisLover · 27/02/2012 20:15

Oh just had a look at dingdong's blog. Must add this to my favourites.

Loving the action shots and Newcastle looked sunny! Last time I was there I was foundered in July!

Love the dp necklace - I can't seem to do real statement jewellery pieces. They look odd but must perservere.

suburbanstyle · 27/02/2012 20:43

Thanks for linking me dingdong, I love your blog, has become daily reading for me too.

Cagney, I know exactly how you feel, pregnancy did not become me at all but hopefully in less than a month you will be taking lots of refreshing spring walks with a delicious newborn. Definitely try and buy some cheap jeans, primark skinnies are good a few sizes bigger than usual because there is nothing more depressing than trying to squeeze into old clothes before you are ready.

Good luck with everything

dingdong3 · 27/02/2012 22:55

I'm going to bed a happy girl. Thanks so much for the feedback everyone
And loving suburban's blog too. V tempted by your dress today. It looked lovely on you - nicer than the model on the FC site :)

daftwit · 02/03/2012 16:51

Am enjoying the Style Guile but envious of her wardrobe Envy Love the pink puffa jacket (looks better than it sounds !)

mumzy · 04/03/2012 14:21

enjoyed Dingdong's blog, very inspiring, always thought our local Primark was a massive jumble sale but will venture in again and look for those statement bits and pieces. Now ds's 11+ exams are over and done with it feels like I've got time to spend on my self!

BearlyThere · 04/03/2012 17:14

that school gate one is a bit DIY

dingdong3 · 04/03/2012 18:14

That's coz it is! I'm just a mum like the rest of you. Not a stylist or a journalist. Just wanted to do something simple and non-pretentious. But I know you can't win 'em all! Grin

FrozenPetisPois · 04/03/2012 19:04

Love the blog dingdong, especially since you've inspired me to start wearing waist belts and long cardigans more often, which would suit my figure! Also I like the fact that you seem more like 'one of us', it's much easier to follow like that Grin

dingdong3 · 04/03/2012 20:22

Grin at Frozen! Thanks for the comment and glad I've inspired someone - I do wonder some days why I put style in the title when I look at myself in the mirror! D'you know the best bit of it....it's mine, all mine! I don't have to share it with my kids, unlike EVERYTHING else in my life atm. :)
