Is it very frumpy? I need something not too snazzy for a party and was sure I'd find something here and there is nothing!!!!!!!!!

Not looked at the new season yet but got a few nice dresses from the autumn/winter stuff.

No it's not just you, a lot of it is frumpy and a bit cheap looking too. They're going to have to do better if they want to sell above sale prices. ( can remember when Monsoon clothes were worth saving up for)

Loveleopardprint · 24/02/2012 11:32

I totally agree. I have had a £100 gift card for there since Xmas 2010 and I just can't spend it. Used to love monsoon. Just wondering if I am getting so old now (41) that I have seen it all before!!

Dismal this season.

Colours are hideous and materials cheap. Not one thing tempted me.

MrsCampbellBlack · 24/02/2012 11:44

I've never bought anything in there - overpriced per una in my opinion

tunaday · 24/02/2012 18:23

Nope. Not just you. I used to love their stuff but I'd say for the last two years whenever I've gone in to look round, I've pretty much walked straight out again. I've no stopped even going in. Does anyone also think that Accessorize is boring now too? I used to get loads of earrings, bracelets etc but to me it doesn't look like they've changed their stock for years. To me the scarves, gloves as well as the jewellery is all very samey year in year old.

AnonymousBird · 24/02/2012 19:08

Glad not just me!

I ended up surprising myself and getting a really nice shimmery evening top in Phase Eight, of all places (I often worry about the "frump factor" there too but actually to look smart, not every day wear, they had some really nice things in today).

Phew.

Was v disappointed with Monsoon. Everything pretty much was reduced, clearly they are struggling to shift stock and I simply could not picture myself in anything at all.

I find Monsoon can veer wildly from frumpy and peculiar to fabulous. It's luck of the draw. Not seen any of this season's new stuff yet though.

Monsoon is a very odd shop that doesn't have a clear direction but sometimes throws up odd pieces that are really quite good copies of designers inspired.
