I regret having my lip and tongue pierced as a teenager as the labret eroded my gums very badly.

No. When pg with DS1 all of mine irritated me so I ended up taking them out. That I do regret! I regret some of the shit tatts that I got when I was 15 one day when I'm not pg and have money I'll get them covered up.

memphis83 · 21/02/2012 09:46

The only regret of my piercings and tattoos is my labret as it has left quite deep indents where they used to be. I had my nipple done, but there is no marks left from that, and I had my earlobes stretched but they have gone back small again.

theseventhdwarf · 21/02/2012 09:49

As a matter of interest do you wear anything in your piercings now or are they just empty scars.?
An thinking of getting a small gold stud to
Put into mine- would that be chavvy? Obv it wouldn't be for public consumption - just a sort of early midlife crisis thing I suppose WinkBlush

I had my nose pierced when I was a young and pretty teenager, and it looked great. The scar is still there and still noticeable twenty years later - though I think you'd need to point it out - and I rather like it.

The scar got me a job with an advertising agency once, too, because the creative director noticed it during the interview and thought I had 'a hidden rock chick side' .

livelaughlovevintage · 21/02/2012 10:03

I've only got my belly button pierced (and ears) and I think it looks quite nice as my belly is the only thing that looks good after DS Grin
I do sometimes regret having DS's name tattoed on my wrist as I think it looks a bit "Chav" now but still like the one on my back coz no one can see it unless I'm in a bikini Smile

OTheHugeManatee · 21/02/2012 10:05

I had my nose pierced as a teenager and regret it now, as the hole is still visible. I also slightly regret the multiple still-visible holes in my ears, though it's not a massive deal.

I had my nipples pierced in my twenties, took them out and you'd never know. Don't regret that one.

TheSinglePringle · 21/02/2012 10:22

I only have my ears pierced but I have 2 tattoos. One on my wrist and one one my back. I got the back on at just gone 16 and the wrist one after my 18th. I regret the wrist one as I don't particularly like it.

I would like another tattoo at some point though

BelleEnd · 21/02/2012 10:26

I have my nose pierced, and I still love it. I wear a small stud in it, and I reckon it suits me.

RedwingWinter · 21/02/2012 16:43

I don't regret it, but I wouldn't do it again now, because just occasionally I'd prefer not to wear a nose ring but then I have an ugly hole, so I have to wear one anyway.

noop, but then they arent prominent/obvious in any way. My navel piercing didnt last very long (got infected, unsurprisingly as it was a home-job by my drunken student self) and there is a tiny scar there. My nose still has a hole in it (again, home job, but more successful - luck more than anything else, although I wasnt drunk when I did that lol) but I dont wear a stud. I think I'd look like a bit of a tw*t, but thats just me. Ear studs I still wear (5 in each) and have always worn studs in there. Because I like them. And because they hurt to get done so I feel like I should keep them for some bizarre reason (25 years on and the memory of that stinging pain remains lol)

LizziePizzie · 21/02/2012 16:53

No - but when it was done it was not pierced through enough flesh, so I can't wear anything as it pokes out and gets caught on trousers! When DD is old enough to notice or ask, I'll tell her is part of my past. i also have 2 tattoos that I don't regret.

Hopefully · 21/02/2012 16:53

I have a belly button and several upper ear piercings (nothing in them though) and don't regret it. Don't even think about it tbh.

Also have two tattoos on my back which I still like. Am vaguely contemplating a third, even though it's 12 years since the last one.

lisad123 · 21/02/2012 16:56

Deepy regret my belly piercing, as it ripped and now left with ugly scar Sad

theseventhdwarf · 22/02/2012 19:23

Oh er - ripped Sad ouchSad
I m guessing not a good look! Still though it s good to read that most here don't regret.
Now what would you say if your DC arrives home with similar piercings?

roguepixie · 22/02/2012 19:29

No, I do't regret them. I have 8 piercings (including ears). Two of the piercings healed when I was pregnant as took jewellery out but had them re-done.

mewkins · 22/02/2012 20:01

Hi, I have my nose pierced, still wear a stud in it apart from when at work (quite a conservative place I work in). You can't see a hole unless really close and I'm told I look 'normal' with or without it in. Dd now 20 months tries to pull it out though, the monkey!

mrscumberbatch · 22/02/2012 20:52

I had a whoooooole load of piercings.

We're talking lip, madonna, tongue, eyebrow, septum, cheeks, ears, nipples, bellybuttons, wrists, napes and probably ones that I don't remember.

I don't regret any of them. They all suited me at the time. But they're just not very baby friendly.

I still have my stretched ears and I'm toying with putting a vertical lip stud back in but it's a lot more toned down than it was a couple of years ago.

Also...minimal scarring. I went to a good piercist.

ShoeJunkie · 22/02/2012 21:18

I still like all my piercings (several in my ears, nose and belly button) and also my tattoo (which DH hates). Looking forward to putting my belly button bar back in once DC1 arrives.

It varies from person to person and also depends how long you've had the piercing for.

I had mine for 7 years and it took over a year to close up.

If you take it out you can always get it repierced in the exact same place. Might be a little painful as it's scar tissue but not impossible
