Going to London to visit GBF - Not been for bloody years & need a new dress - HELP

Right - am in panic mode, going to London on Friday to visit my oldest & bestest friend & have realised I have sweet FA to wear to go out in the evening, we'll probably be doing dinner somewhere fairly swanky followed by gay bars.

Obviously I want to look fabulous as I'll be seeing lots of old friends I haven't seen since the DCs came along. I don't even know where to start looking.

Shade under 5'8, size 10, great legs, curvy slim - no problem figure areas really. Don't really want to spend more than £100 as I won't be getting a great deal of wear out of it - am happy to consider separates rather than a dress.

HELP LOVELY PEOPLE.

PS usual style is lots of Toast, J Crew, APC type stuff.

So nobody cares...

Undoubtedly I will therefore end up buying something like these, then all the cool kids will point & laugh at me & I will be forced to drown my horror & feelings of utter wrongness in drink, which will start a downward spiral of dipsomania & despair & I'll wake up in the gutter in 20 years time & wonder what happened to my lovely life. AND IT WILL ALL BE YOUR FAULT.

Although quite fancied this, yey, nay?

Right - no-one is ever going to join in my thread - I am going to buy this entire outfit

& wear it out on Old Compton Street.

& You will be responsible for the results.

I quite like talking to myself.

It's cathartic.

Spiders - don't get excited, I have no fashion knowledge. I do, however, have experience of talking to myself, so just thought I'd let you know you're not alone!

And I like the dress you linked to.

And I'm jealous of your lovely sounding figure.

Loveleopardprint · 20/02/2012 21:42

Dear spiders. Can't really help with the fashion but feel sorry for you talking to yourself. To be honest sounds like you have a great figure and could basically wear a sack and look fab Envy

The best thing about London is the variety of outfits and lack of judgement such as you find on the school run etc.

Have fun.

RedwingWinter · 20/02/2012 21:58

Spiders, I like the dress you link to (the nice one not the outfits you are threatening us with!).

I also like this if worn with edgy (not sweet) accessories.

Or this one if you want something black, although the one in the pic doesn't seem to be quite the right size for the mannequin.

zonedout · 20/02/2012 22:16

Spiders, not sure what you should wear... Would probably go for the good jeans, sexy boots, great top option (but I am dull) but just read through this thread and wanted to say I find you hilarious. In a good way.

Which I was coming out with you and your gbf!

lurkingaround · 20/02/2012 22:40

No advice, but just wanted to echo leopardprint, with your fab figure, you could wear a sack and look gorgeous. Size 10, hourglass, good legs Envy.

Have a great night!

chipandbiff · 20/02/2012 22:42

What she said (zoned out)!! U should have a Blog thing! Have a great night out Grin

spiderslegs · 20/02/2012 23:25

Now that's made me feel a fuck of a lot better - am buying the dress - will let you know how it gets on.

OP posts:
spiderslegs · 20/02/2012 23:29

& also ordering Redwing's suggestions.

A sack would look more judiciously bad than the cigarette pants I was persuaded to buy.

OP posts:
spiderslegs · 20/02/2012 23:29

Better - the sack would look BETTER

OP posts:
spiderslegs · 20/02/2012 23:39

Anyway - thanks you funny fuckers
