Gloopy old nail polish

Can it be revived? I keep wondering what would happen if I mixed a little nail polish remover into it.

Chuck it. Next time, keep it in the fridge, it lasts much longer.

you can mix polish remover into it...it shouldnt harm it in any way. Nail polishes have a solvent in them designed to evapourate upon contact with air. Usually that solvent is just acetone so all you are doing is adding back some of the acetone that has escaped. In future, always wipe the neck of the bottle with polish remover and screw the top on tightly. Store out of sunlight (in the fridge if you can but for me that would be impossible - I have about 50 bottles) and it should last at least a couple of years.

This bottle is actually about 5 years old Blush but it's my favourite. Is it beyond help for its age do you think?

no harm in trying - though I would stick a blob of it on shome paper so that if it does completely die you can at least take your colour swab into boots etc and try to find a new favourite Wink

I've revived old bottles of nail varnish by adding remover. Probably over 10 years old varnishes. no wonder my house is cluttered

Try Mavala nail polish thinner, it works a treat and one bottle will last you forever...

mrsmartin · 19/02/2012 18:24

I always do the removed thing it works ok but it's nearing the end. Like when you put your mascara in hot water.
