Life after henna???

I've been using Lush henna on my hair for the best part of a year now - I started with rouge and then moved onto marron.

Whilst I love the colour it gives to my hair, I don't particularly like the hassle of actually dying it! Plus, whilst I do love the colour the henna gives me, I'm getting a bit bored of the few limited shades (I don't want to use the brun or noir henna as I'm a natural red head and really dark hair doesn't suit me!)

So... I haven't henna'd my hair for a good few months, and it is fading to red, (which actually looks quite nice, but not the shade I'm after atm) and have about 2 inches of roots...

Is there any way to dye over the henna without spending a fortune?

Watching with interest. I have ashy-brown hair and am growing out lush indigo. All the research I've done suggests it can't be removed, but perhaps covered with a deposit only colour (something like manic-panic). The trouble is, I want to go lighter, so I don't want to deposit MORE colour! I did attempt highlights about 8 months ago, which went bluey-green and had to be re-indigoed. I think it's a growing out kind of thing...which is KILLING ME!!! I can't stand roots and they are now about 3 inches. Luckily, the colours aren't a million miles apart, but I know...

You could ask on the Henna forum, they are very helpful.

Do you want to do lighter or darker over the top? Darker maight be okay, I highlighted once over henna and as the previous poster said it went greeny blue.
