Hair colour - which method would be best?

Okay, so i use to have like a darkish warm brown hair colour, then used colour B4 to lighten it to a lighter copper brown. Then i applied a light auburn colour which has made my hair a reddish light brown colour, and my roots a more lighter auburn colour. If i stand in natural daylight, may hair just looks auburn, apart from the lengths that are still darker, on photos my hair still looks more brown, iukwim!

I really want to have a more vibrant gingery colour. I was thinking of going down the colour B4 route again, to lighten the darker parts. But i'm thinking maybe my hair has been through too much! Another option is maybe having some Ginger/copper highlights put through - although i wouldn't attempt this myself, so it would mean a hairdressers trip, which would mean extra £££. Either way i think both aren't going to be kind to my hair.

Is there any other way i could get my hair, especially just the lengths a more lighter, gingery/auburn colour? would a semi colour do anything? I'm thinking maybe a permanent colour maybe more damaging?

BUMP- Need advice - !

Okay, so i've gone and got a permanent hair dye- jumped the gun as they say! I haven't done it yet as i don't know which to do first - i got L'oreal's feria preference in Mango Intense Copper, looks pretty vibrant gingery on the box. So with my roots/parting already being a more lighter and auburny colour than my lengths - do i miss them out completely? or do i them first? Or should i colour the darker lengths of my hair first? I don't really know which way to do it. I really don't want to end up with neon orange roots and dark red lengths :( Help!
