Multi-question post re trip to London / Interview + Shopping!

I'm flying to London next week for my first job interview in about 14 years! What do I wear?! I've forgotten. It's a creative job for a potentially stuffy department. Are trousers OK or should I play safe with a skirt ?

Main dilemma is what to pack. I am spending a few extra days there as a holiday - meeting friends and SHOPPING and I want to have a near empty case on the way over because I intend to fill it up before returning home. Grin

I need: clothes for interview, clothes for shopping and clothes for evenings out. Preferably all mix and match - which is good as most of my wardrobe is like this. Please help me see the wood for the trees and not overpack! Oh, I'm staying for 4 days, 3 nights.

Finally - what shall I treat myself to while I'm there? I deserve a treat but don't really need any more clothes. What accessories are de rigeur right now?

Oh, and finally finally - any recommendations for where I can get a good facial in central London?

I would take...

Trousers and blouse (for interview) - I wear straight wide leg tailored trousers, usually ted baker as they are the most flattering shape on my hourglass figure (also great for pears) worn with a comfy court shoe (heel height that you are most happy with)

Trousers and luxe jumper (for day 1 of shopping) - same trousers but a sexy cowl neck knit, quite lightweight so it can be worn under coat, worn with shoes as above.

Day dress with opaques (day 2 of shopping) - worn with a pair of boots

Another dress with tights and boots (day 3 of shopping)

A couple of nice dresses for nights out - depending on what shoes you are comfortable with you may need a different pair to above.

Leather camera bags are due to be the hottest bag of the season

The Elemis Day Spa in Mayfair is a real treat...

For day 4...you will have already bought a new outfit on day 1, 2 or 3 Grin

really? Dp just bought me one for my birthday - I had no idea I was being 'hot!' :)

Travel in comfortable day boots - I'd wear them with a jersey dress, opaques, a biker jacket or peacoat and a scarf/pashmina. I'd take the boots off and put warm socks on once on the plane.

Interview - I'm sure trousers would be fine. Grey wide leg would be nice. Or black cigarette trousers with a slightly cropped Chanel-esque jacket (lots of those around at the moment) or even a Chanel-esque cardigan (lots of those around too).

And yes to lightweight cowl neck jumpers - my favourite!

PeriPathetic · 17/02/2012 14:27

Thank you! I LOVE Elemis!

Camera bags? I hadn't heard that. Although I don't actually need any more bags, I rather fancy something colourful in ostrich.

And yes, I shall be buying something new on the clothes front Wink Perhaps I shall just take an empty case & buy the rest... tempting!
