New bowl of crisps, tuck in Ruby!

I am thrilled at this Pixi lust. Another of their things wot I like is the cheek gel in natural. It doesn't stay on very long but while it does it's well pretty.

I felt a bit rubbish yesterday and spent much too long hunched over the computer looking at not very edifying things. Today is better. Have shredded, spot cleaned the stair carpet, written a letter to DD who will be at an outdoor pursuity place with school next week and am now going out to buy some fabric conditioner at Wilkos. When the mice are away the cat does rather boring things, it would seem Blush.

Ruby I really liked it, clever, funny, and musical!
What's up, why aren't you well?

MrsSchadenfreude · 19/02/2012 13:59

Please go and see the doctor, Ruby. It will hopefully be something simple that they can sort out quickly and easily.

Ruby, go to doctors and get checked out. Some nasty stuff around this year. I am still harbouring something from Christmas, and last week felt about ninety as I climbed the stairs in waterstones...
Yes we were in the circle - very good view!! Hope your clapping is better than mine!!

bigTillyMint · 19/02/2012 14:18

ruby, we saw Stomp a few years ago. It was very good. But you might need your earplugs if you sit as near the front as we did Grin And get to the doc's.

Can't believe we'll be back to school tomorrow. Even me - I have to do some INSETSad

No Ruby, you were just a very young mum!

It does sound like you have some lingering chesty bug, so do see a GP. It's true, one does just soldier on until realisation dawns that things just aren't getting better by themselves.

motherinferior · 19/02/2012 17:48

Darling, go to the GP. And you are younger than I am, dammit Grin

I am never going to live up to my parents' ambitions as I am (a) not an academic (b) not stunningly beautiful (c) over seven stone.

OTOH it is quite possible that my parents are clinically insane, and that my mum is really quite odd about food and weight. And actually my life sorted itself out just in time to do things like have children, which I very nearly didn't. Also I think I am bringing those children up rather better than my parents did me.

92? There's hope for us yet. I think I'm a late starter.

Mmmm. Sausage, chips and beans for tea. Plus wine.

CointreauVersial · 19/02/2012 23:57

Oh my goodness, Ruby, that book sounds amazing. Here we are fretting about career aspirations while your great uncle spent five years slaving as a POW.

My uncle, who died last year aged 88, had similar tales to tell, and I so wish he had managed to put them down on paper. He was a Wellington bomber pilot in WW2 and had some extraordinary experiences.

Anyway, just got back from a lovely meal out and pub crawl in our village with our neighbours - it was great fun. This marks the last night of carb-eating - I am officially Back On The Wagon having piled on at least half a stone since before Christmas.

Back to the coal-face tomorrow, booooo.

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/02/2012 06:45

Got called into work yesterday afternoon - finally got home just before 11. Completely knackered, full of cold and running a slight temperature. Have a full day ahead of me, including an afternoon's interviewing. Would rather stay in bed...

Blackduck · 20/02/2012 07:02

Sympathy MrsS and remember from that other time you interviewed? Don't go asking questions :)

bigTillyMint · 20/02/2012 07:29

See, Mrs S, you are indespensible Smile

My knee injury feels worse today - I think it could be the 40mins on the treadmill yesterday. I was only walking Sad OAP emoticon needed.

TheReturnOfStropperella · 20/02/2012 10:24

Ruby, how fantastic that your great-uncle got his story published - and he really does sound like an inspirational chap (as that title says).

Dd is still suffering from the mystery virus that she has had for about 2 or 3 weeks. She keeps developing new symptoms. One thing clears up and then something else comes in its place. She has had lots of dizzy spells and extreme tiredness, chesty cough, sinus pain, headaches, chest pain, hip pain and the latest one was lower leg pain so severe that she spent 2 days going up and down stairs on her bum and walking as though she needed a zimmer frame. The doctor says if she doesn't rest up now, she will put herself at risk of developing post-viral fatigue which could go on for months. I now feel guilty I didn't stop her from going to school for the week before half-term.

Ruby - GO TO THE DOCTOR! Grin

CV, glad your week in the West Country went well. Which bit of Devon did you visit?

TheReturnOfStropperella · 20/02/2012 10:26

MrsS, good luck for today. Hope you have plenty of paracetamol/ibuprofen/cold remedy of choice to hand.

TheReturnOfStropperella · 20/02/2012 10:27

And BTM, sounds like you should be resting that knee, not torturing it on the treadmill!

bigTillyMint · 20/02/2012 17:22

Oh Strops, that sounds awful for your DD Sad Did the GP say how long it might be?

And sadly, I think you are right about resting my knee.

I might be able to do all the none knee-involved stuff on the shred though?

Blackduck · 20/02/2012 18:27

Is there any non-knee stuff on The Shred?
Has anyone had all the other symptoms of a period, but no bleeding? 'Tis very weird .......

bigTillyMint · 20/02/2012 20:22

BD, yes, a few of the abs exercises should be doable, but obviously not all those awful squats, jumping jacks, etc!

And yes, I had that some months and then others with a complete flood. Now I am on HRT, I have a regular and light period with less PMT than I used to have (bleeding now maybe 5 tbs, previously maybe a pint? Shock No wonder I was/am anaemic!)

TheReturnOfStropperella · 20/02/2012 21:38

We are a bit gloomy in the house of Stropps this evening. Dh had his hospital appmt and the state of play is such that they are recommending a biopsy. He is not happy and I have to say I don't blame him. A prostate biopsy does not sound like a bundle of laughs.

Dd still clutching various parts of her anatomy and grumbling.

Suddenly feel tired and rather out of sorts myself...
