New bowl of crisps, tuck in Ruby!

I am thrilled at this Pixi lust. Another of their things wot I like is the cheek gel in natural. It doesn't stay on very long but while it does it's well pretty.

I felt a bit rubbish yesterday and spent much too long hunched over the computer looking at not very edifying things. Today is better. Have shredded, spot cleaned the stair carpet, written a letter to DD who will be at an outdoor pursuity place with school next week and am now going out to buy some fabric conditioner at Wilkos. When the mice are away the cat does rather boring things, it would seem Blush.

Oh thank goodness, Strops, I was thinking of you today. Hopefully the treatment will be straightforward. Enjoy your Easter (and go easy on the Wine!)

MrsSchadenfreude · 06/04/2012 07:35

Good news, Stropps! Smile

Have a few WineWineWine on me. (I don't really do moderation when I go for it, which I would in these circumstances.)

bigTillyMint · 06/04/2012 07:58

That's great Stropps - it's so much better knowing and feeling like you have some control (well, at least choosing options!) and that it is confined to one place. Hope you and your DH have got hangovers Grin

We are supposed to be having a spring clean and tidy up over Easter. I can tell you, I am so excited by the thought of this. Hmm

DD2 has been invited to a party tomorrow in a park. We received an email this morning from one of the parents of the birthday girls detailing what would be acceptable presents and what would not. My jaw hit the floor - the list was very detailed, specifying certain wii games, dvds, books, the colours they liked, what colours they didn't like, they didn't want clothes, books by certain authors, soft toys, any food apart from chocolate, no ornaments, no this, that or the other. We got them some craft stuff. I hope that is acceptable to the spoiled little fuckers birthday girls.

MrsSchadenfreude · 07/04/2012 22:54

I wanted to hit "reply to all" and say "wow, how rude are you?" But perhaps this is acceptable behaviour in America.

herbaceous · 08/04/2012 08:33

How rude, mrs s!

So far I've spent Easter feeling ill. Off colour on Friday, when we went to a 30s-themed party at the neighbours, then woke up at 3.30 with horrendous stomach cramps. Spent the next half day on the lab with, well, totally liquid pooh. Awful. Still feel fragile today. Don't know if it's food poisoning, noro, or what... Just hope ds doesn't catch it.

Going to hide some eggs n stuff round the house soon for him to find. Too rainy for any garden activity.

herbaceous · 08/04/2012 08:34

By 'lab' I obviously mean 'lav'. Khazi. Bog.

MrsSchadenfreude · 08/04/2012 08:47

You'll not be fancying any chocolate then, Herbs. Grin

Weather is dry here, thankfully, as that is the criteria for the party. The contingency plan is to have it tomorrow if it rains Hmm - which doesn't fill me with glee. How about having it in your house if it rains?

DD2 was in tears yesterday, while the rest of us were cruelly in hysterics. She had a "fur cat" exactly like

this

The real cats clearly objected to the fake kitty, and have chewed/clawed its face off. GrinGrinGrin The more we laughed - and we reached crying, hysterical laughter, the more upset poor DD2 got. What unfit parents we are. Poor Snoozles (for that is the poor unfortunate's name) is now in the bin, as DD2 has been persuaded that she can't glue the fur/its face back on as it would look even more horrific than it already does. She did raise a small smile this morning, and is punishing the kitten by lugging it around the flat with her.

CointreauVersial · 08/04/2012 10:49

We are at my dad's at the moment, minus DS, who is with a friend. They were supposed to be camping, but apparently the site they went to made Dale Farm look classy, and it was raining and miserable, so they came home early. He texted at 7am this morning asking to be collected. Not bloody likely; there's roast lamb for lunch.

We are about to unleash the DDs and their cousins on a massive egg hunt. That should give us.....ooo...two minutes of peace.

Happy Easter y'all!

herbaceous · 08/04/2012 11:09

Going out for lunch soon with pals. Can tell I'm not right: just don't fancy a roast dinner. Usually I'm all over that shizzle like a rash.

Maybe I'm still dehydrated... despite drinking gallons of dioralyte, tea and ribena yesterday, I only managed two small wees. I know. TMI.

bigTillyMint · 08/04/2012 12:50

We are in the IoW. Nice apartment with sea views - would be great if it weren't for the moaning/bickering/crap TV watching/chocate egg scoffing DC [bugrin] We are about to drag them off on a bike ride, featuring a real ale pub[buwink]

Blackduck · 08/04/2012 13:29

We have just done Kent and north London. Ds has been with in laws since Wednesday. Went down yesterday (both hungover) to Easter egg hunt and today transferred him from in laws to my folks and brought dog home. Curry out tonight, peace and quiet :) even the viewers on Friday were boringly normal :) (am hoping for a reasonable offer).

MrsS I would have made a point of buying something that ticked ad many of the 'dislike' boxes as possible - I would have viewed it as a challenge Grin (sound of gauntlet hitting the ground)
Hope you feel better soon Herbs.

MrsSchadenfreude · 08/04/2012 16:09

Just picked up DD2 from rather frosty parents of birthday girl. DD2 announced in the car on the way home, "I asked why they had given a list of what presents to buy and what not to buy, and said that my Mum said that was a really rude thing to do, and they said it was because people didn't know what to buy." Not sure whether to be Blush or Grin at that!

Found excellent Indian restaurant in the suburb where we had a lovely lunch, and just about to open a nice bottle of Beaujolais Blanc.

On the S & B front, a new mole on my chest went dark and scabby so I picked it off and part of it came off in the shower. The rest of it is just sitting there flapping, and not sure what to do with it now...

MrsSchadenfreude · 08/04/2012 16:09

...as it is neither stylish nor beautiful as it is!

bigTillyMint · 08/04/2012 18:47

I am feeling very proud of myself - we went on a very hilly bike ride, and I didn't have to get off and walk up any of the hills [busmile] Sadly, my knees are now wasted!

As the walk to the beach this morning and the bike ride and pub this afternoon were our choice, the DC are choosing what we do tomorrow

MrsS, your DD's honesty puts me in mind of a dreadful night when DD still went to brownies - she told her friend's mum and dad that she didn't want a lift home with them (but to go with her BF - bit of a triangle there...) because her mum (me!) had said that they always dropped her back so late [bushock] True - notoriously late for everything, but then took the girls to do their food shopping on the way home.....
A very difficult phone convo from the dad (who was a bit of a loose cannon anyway) and a very very tearful DD and I later..... hopefully she learned a BIT of tact [bugrin]

TheReturnOfStropperella · 08/04/2012 22:30

I am feeling a little jaded after a very heavy lunch at my mother's. I significantly exceeded my normal drinking limits and so felt the need to construct a "hedgerow hat" on the afternoon walk. Method: pick lots of goosegrass (long, sticky-tendrilled plant), weave into huge turban, place on head and then encourage all children to put as many flowers on it as possible. My SIL was somewhat embarrassed, as loud guffaws were heard from passing cars, but I feel I was performing a public service as at least this stopped all dcs (the nephews included) from fighting for the duration of the walk.

Herbs, hope you feel better soon.

MrsS, take that mole to the doc. Dark and scabby is not good.

Hmm, I think I need a couple of nurofen and a lie-down.

herbaceous · 09/04/2012 15:54

Strops, you do make me laff.

Feeling a little better. Filled with guilt at not making our Easter weekend fun-packed and whizzy, so soldiered on. Went out for pub lunch yesterday, after which I felt much revived (no doubt due to wine), but worse this morning. Then we went to the Museum of London, which would have been really interesting if DS had stood still long enough for any of the exhibits to be examined.

Then got bollocking on 'general health' thread for leaving the house at all, and spreading my germs, so feeling guilty on that front now.

I should have been a catholic. Talking of which, earlier on DS made a playful swipe for my face. I gave him a stern look, and said 'no'. Five minutes later, DP came into the room. DS said 'I hit mummy, and I want to go on the naughty step'. He took himself off, sat there crying for a minute, came in and said sorry. Bizarre. We hardly EVER use the step punishment, and only for hitting, which he hasn't done for ages.

bigTillyMint · 09/04/2012 18:30

Herbs, I am in awe of you - a DS who takes himself to the naughty step aged 2 [bushock][busmile] He truly is G&T.

We have had a bout of cabin fever here - between a morning walk to a glass blowing studio and the DC's (well DS's - DD thinks everything is boring) choice of afternoon trip of bowling at a local seaside pier [buhmm] And now they are bickering again over what TV channel to watch. GRRRRR!

Herbs, we have had many similar visits to the Museum of London. And any other museum too!

oldqueenie · 09/04/2012 18:48

Yes OQ, it's winterlike here in the IoW too - just about bearable in a cosy pub [busmile]

And we've all just cosied up and watched Pretty Woman - no bickering for 2 whole hours!
