New bowl of crisps, tuck in Ruby!

I am thrilled at this Pixi lust. Another of their things wot I like is the cheek gel in natural. It doesn't stay on very long but while it does it's well pretty.

I felt a bit rubbish yesterday and spent much too long hunched over the computer looking at not very edifying things. Today is better. Have shredded, spot cleaned the stair carpet, written a letter to DD who will be at an outdoor pursuity place with school next week and am now going out to buy some fabric conditioner at Wilkos. When the mice are away the cat does rather boring things, it would seem Blush.

I ruled out a Mirena coil, as I had such a bad time on Cerazette (which is more-or-less the same thing in pill form, apparently). I seem to suit the combined pill, so here I am staying.

Herbs - would love to comment on your dress but the link no longer works. Maybe you bought the last ones. Has your H&M £1.99 dress arrived yet? I ordered one (and about £60-worth of other random stuff I was duped into adding to my basket), but it hasn't turned up yet.

Strops - all that waiting must be so stressful - it's probably a blessing in disguise having a guest to stay busy for. I hope you get some answers very soon.

Blackduck · 27/03/2012 14:11

Stropps hope you hear something soon. Can only image what the waiting and not knowing is like.
I have parents evening tonight - am hoping, unlike my administrator, that I am not presented with a picture of an unfeasibly large erect penis as an example of my child's work :) (it was a poster he had done to publicise testicular cancer). Ds moaned all the way to school 'why do I have to sit there and hear peole say things about me', to which dp siad 'you don't, you can sit outside'.....

TheReturnOfStropperella · 27/03/2012 16:15

Well, we now have dh's MRI appmt for 5.30 this Thursday. But not because they contacted him. I rang them and requested they sort it out ASAP and they said they'd ring me back - and they did, having added on an appmt slot. The MRI dept reckoned his paperwork had been held up somewhere else, plus they had an entirely erroneous phone no. on file for us. I predict that I will have to be on the hospital's case (in fact it will probably be 2 hospitals) throughout this. Dh is not very good at doing this kind of stuff and I am.

bigTillyMint · 27/03/2012 18:03

That's good that it's soon, but not so good that you had to ring. And definitely yes, keep on their case. We will all be rooting for him and you Smile

BD, hope it's a good one! Sometimes it's good for them to hear what the teacher thinks from the horses mouth, and sometimes it's good to be able to talk about them without having to choose your words carefullyWinkSmile

CointreauVersial · 27/03/2012 18:09

We have parent's evening for DS1 on Thursday - first one at secondary school. He had to make all the appointments himself, so it remains to be seen if we are actually booked with anyone apart from his PE and DT teachers. Grin

bigTillyMint · 27/03/2012 18:13

CV, at DD's school you just go along to whoever, whenever - no appointments at all!
It seemed to work OK last year when all staff were in the atrium together (you could see who did / didn't have a queue and we were finished quickly), but DH said that it was a bit of a mare this year (I couldn't go) because they were all in different rooms miles apartHmm

Blackduck · 27/03/2012 22:20

All good. She is just frustrated because she feels he is not doing as well as he could. He has potential, but isn't reaching it - all true....
Stropps fingers crossed for Thursday, and sorry you are having to chase - that's just crap.
And hey crepeys if your memories go back that far, recall house A (dp's dream), off to look again on Thursday - not on market at present, he has approached speculatively......I have no idea what we are doing here!!

Blackduck · 28/03/2012 08:43

Crepeys I just had to share mooncup

DukesOfTripHazard · 28/03/2012 10:50

Oh she's very entertaining. 'Hotdog hallway' etc. Thanks Blackduck.

That's put me right off my lunch......Grin

bigTillyMint · 28/03/2012 13:36

'Fraid I couldn't even click on the link! Blush

herbaceous · 28/03/2012 14:59

We should invite Mooncup to join our quiche. Though I fear she might not be quite decrepit enough.

motherinferior · 28/03/2012 20:11

S&B latest in the Inferiority Complex: remember that Coast silk jersey wrap dress I picked up for six quid in the charity shop? Have been wearing it today (with vest, boots and leggings) and it has been much complimented.

MrsSchadenfreude · 29/03/2012 06:59

Morning, Hags. Just peering in before heading off to work, to wish Mr Stropps all the best for this evening.

bigTillyMint · 29/03/2012 07:08

Yes, Good Luck Mr Stropps and you Strops x

Blackduck · 29/03/2012 07:15

Adding good luck and crossed fingers to the pile and an unmnlike (())

herbaceous · 29/03/2012 14:26

((hug)) and a for tonight Strops.

On a frivolous and shallow S&B tip, my stripey dresses arrived. They're v nice, but the waist comes a couple of inches above my actual waist, thus not making the most of my 'hourglass' figure. A belt could help. I think, as they're not perfect, I'll return the red stripey and keep the blue. More of a classic.

No sign as yet of the H&M £1.99er!

wilbur · 29/03/2012 14:46

Yes, thinking of everyone chez Stropps this evening, hope it goes ok. xx

bigTillyMint · 29/03/2012 17:39

Just thinking of you and your DH Strops - hope it is going OK{{{}}}

TheReturnOfStropperella · 29/03/2012 17:45

Thank you very much everybody. I am just back from dropping dh off the at the hospital. He won't get any results or anything today and as he does not suffer from claustrophobia, he ought to be OK during the MRI. It did put a smile on his face when I passed on the good wishes from all of you. :)

Luckily, we only live up the road from the main county hospital. Unluckily, some of the tests are done at Weymouth hospital and the surgery (should he be a candidate for that) will be done at Poole hospital. So I am going to be taxi-ing him around the countryside for the next while. The plan is that the MRI results are with "the team" for a meeting next Wed and some time after that they will phone dh and tell him what the score is. Maybe they won't get round to that until after Easter w/e. By which time neither dh nor I will have any fingernails left.

A customer has just phoned with a rush job for 8am tomorrow morning. But they are paying extra, so it looks like v. little sleep tonight.

Sort of S&B news: I have new glasses. After 7 years of rimless frames, it is a bit of a shock to have "statement" glasses, but the family reckon they are good (can't wear contacts as have weird prescription and weird eyes in general). Just as well everyone has given the new specs the thumbs up as they cost me the best part of £300. The frames were only about £60 - all the rest was for the extra-thin varifocal lenses Shock . I may have to go for the really old lady bifocal look next time. I mean £300?? And they're not even fancy specs... Lucky I didn't fall for any of the "designer" frames. Then the whole thing would have cost £600+, which I can safely say we don't have spare right now.

MrsSchadenfreude · 29/03/2012 21:33

DH can't wear contact lenses as he doesn't produce enough tears. No great surprise there.

I feel your pain for the cost of lenses Strops, as mine cost similar, and I don't even wear them all the time.

I have spent a disproportionate amount of time and stress this evening formatting DD1's short story for a competition. The exactness of the formatting was staggering, and I have forwarded it to DD1's teacher to make sure I have done it properly, rather than send it in myself.

I am now going to have a Nice Cup of Tea and go to bed.

oldqueenie · 29/03/2012 22:21

Just catching up with you all ladies.... sending all good luck to the stropps. really hope it all goes ok and you're not left in uncertainty for any longer than is bearable....
dss finish school tomorrow and were off to suffolk for a couple of weeks on saturday. Really looking forward to it.... shall be rocking a springtime look in the unseasonally hot weather and frightening the locals.
s and b update. Boden leather jacket arrived. just cant decide whether to keep or return. it's a lovely colour, lovely soft leather, quite stylish... but it's quite short and therefore looks a bit "boxy". cant make up my mind whether I'm not sure as have never owned such an item before or whether it's because it just isn't right. shall ponder over Easter....

CointreauVersial · 29/03/2012 22:35

Strops, your glasses are smack bang in the middle of your face all the time, so worth getting good 'uns, I think. Sorry to hear you still have more waiting around on the medical front......

We survived DS1's parent's evening; no surprises, really. Poor boy, he's always going to suffer from having two bright hard-working sisters snapping at his heels.

Not working tomorrow (yay!) but I have decided that I really must do something about cleaning the windows (all 15 of them), as there's nothing like a bit of sunshine to highlight the filth. Not sure I wouldn't rather be in the office.

CointreauVersial · 29/03/2012 22:38

OQ, a short jacket looks great with a longer top poking out, so try that. Have a lovely time in Suffolk - sounds a perfect break.

DukesOfTripHazard · 30/03/2012 11:06

oldqueenie, imho unless a leather jacket feels really right, it ain't. I'd keep looking for the right one. I love mine and look forward to getting old with it. Sort of.Grin

CV I've had a much better finish on my windows since our window cleaner told me this method. Put One Drop of washing up liquid in a bowl/sink with very hot water and a tea towel. Wring it out to within an inch of its life. Scrub windows, rinse with tea towel tea, wrung out to an inch in plain water, dry with third tea towel. Works really well. I leave out the middle tea towel to no ill effect.
