New bowl of crisps, tuck in Ruby!

I am thrilled at this Pixi lust. Another of their things wot I like is the cheek gel in natural. It doesn't stay on very long but while it does it's well pretty.

I felt a bit rubbish yesterday and spent much too long hunched over the computer looking at not very edifying things. Today is better. Have shredded, spot cleaned the stair carpet, written a letter to DD who will be at an outdoor pursuity place with school next week and am now going out to buy some fabric conditioner at Wilkos. When the mice are away the cat does rather boring things, it would seem Blush.

BD, I hope the viewing provides you with lovely, sensible buyers who will get their skates on.

BTM, my evil tape measure assures me that my waist measurement is 31 inches and my other measurements are also in the 30s. So I am not so much round as rather straight up and down. I think that the circuit training is also causing me old norks to shrink, sadly. Still, I love the circuits. And apparently in summer we get to do a cool-down run around the school playing field. Am now even beginning to think about taking up trail running. Hmmm. It's all the Crepeys' fault. You lot convinced me that taking up exercise in midlife was a good idea. Now I seem to be hooked.

bigTillyMint · 01/03/2012 21:35

Trail running, yikes! That sounds way too eager!

My knee is much better, so I have been trying to do the Shred without any funny knee movements - no squats/lunges/jumpingJacks... not sure that leaves much else Grin

TheReturnOfStropperella · 01/03/2012 21:42

As you predicted, BTM, the exercise has strengthened my old lady knees, but I doubt that I will ever feel very happy about jump lunges and I confess I concentrate v. hard even when doing normal lunges, just in case something important starts to give. But then there are all those lovely core stability exercises that don't involve the knees much at all Grin

I am snorting happily at the idea of corned beef coloured shoes. Although, to lengthen my legs, I would need a whiteish-grey at present a there is not one shred of flesh colour anywhere on them. There is hair growing, though, so they must still be alive. And yes, trenchcoats, WTF? Plus you always, always lose the belt.

I seem to have ticked the wrong box on the Wandsworth form and have been told I will receive a letter re ds1's choice tomorrow. MrsS - glad you have got a plan re school for dd1. Does that mean she will come back and do IB just for sixth form here? You could move to leafy Wimbledon - they have girls in the 6th form at King College now. Think of all those future captains of industry she could snog become friends with.

bigTillyMint · 02/03/2012 19:31

Wilbur, did you get your letter? Fingers crossed!

O went really well - inspector said he could find no faults whatsoever, but the best grade special settings can get under the new framework is good. Wine all round. He also said he was impressed with the teaching of literacy which is my area

MrsSchadenfreude · 02/03/2012 20:00

Wilbur - on current planning, she will either be back for the last year of school before 6th form starts or the one before that. Wondering about the feasibility of getting the DDs to Kingston or Egham/Cobham from where we live in the morning. Would be quite a long journey (train from Waterloo, then bus), but, I think, do-able. But central London school preferable.

TheReturnOfStropperella · 02/03/2012 20:32

Woohoo BTM! Grin That must be a gooood feeling. Enjoy your very well-earned Wine

Actually I am now getting really worried about DD1's secondary. In all sorts of ways. We're committed to it, but I think it may have been the wrong decision. It doesn't set in many subjects, certainly not in Y7. It's all girls. Its results are improving but they're still not amazing. And so on. And so forth.

It's all the threads on MN about how I'm selling her short by not paying money for a wildly exclusive education that are particularly upsetting me. Sad

bigTillyMint · 03/03/2012 12:07

MI, STOP WORRYING Smile

Thanks for all the congratulations! I am celebrating by decorating the kitchen Grin I think we should set up a HandyHags business, doing flat-packs, painting and decorating and other practical tasks that my DH is completely incapable of

Blackduck · 03/03/2012 14:57

Ruby good point re tuition. If we stayed here we could try to get ds into a grammar (still state ones here), but I think quality of life and available activities is better where we are going (if we ever get there!).
MI with a mum like you I am sure dd1 will do just fine, and anyone who is paying through the nose to have their child in a private school is bound to say its the best thing since sliced bread - avoid all such threads :)

motherinferior · 03/03/2012 19:12

Oooh, I have to tell you a truly crepey-style incident that happened today! Not me, but a friend [yeah really emoticon].

I went into Boots (to pick up hand cream, since you ask) and bumped into two friends of mine, a long-married couple. (They're lovely.) They confessed, slightly giggly, that they'd left their three kids in front of the telly and 'sneaked out for a coffee'. Naturally (well, naturally to my Mind of Filth Wink) I wondered just what they were in Boots for [nudge nudge]....till they confessed that they were actually in there to pick up stuff to stop him snoring. And yes they showed me. Worse, I considered picking some up myself for Mr Inferior...

...middle age really does reduce you, and not in a good way, innit Grin.

MrsSchadenfreude · 03/03/2012 20:00

Not a vibrating cock ring, then, MI. Grin Mind you, that would probably stop the snoring too.

And please don't worry about the school - it will be fine. A vast number of private schools are simply money making machines, with facilities that are vastly inferior to state schools - this is from a friend of DH who is a school inspector.

I went to a crap comp. I think I did OK - qualifications could have been a leetle better Grin, but I have a reasonable career, I think. My cousin's daughter failed her 11 + and is now at medical school, despite going to a really crap school.

Morning crepeys. I've been out TWO NIGHTS ON THE TROT, and have slept badly after both of them, due to wine consumption, and now my left eye is red and weepy (it was entirely stuck together this morning), but it was worth it. Had a great time. But now have very long, wet Sunday in which to entertain toddler. With hangover.

On an S&B tip, just reading the thread where hourglass woman has the revelation that as jeans are always so uncomfy/unflattering, why not just wear dresses? I think I may follow suit: I spent ages agonising about what to wear last night, and ended up not really happy with the result - a cobbled together melange of old, cheap clothes, including jeans. I vowed to buy one thing each season that I really like, and that shall be my 'going out' item.

DukesOfTripHazard · 04/03/2012 11:35

Ruby your pacifying re MI's DD's school brought a little tear of calm to my eye (might also by the way be my DD's school next year). MI we know it is possible to absolute thrive there. I met lots of focussed happy girls and you have said such positive things yourself.

Herbs: this is why God invented CBeebies.

Am most appreciative of all your bracing reassurance.

Blackduck · 04/03/2012 14:49

Muppet movie, followed by carluccio ( we do a better version of his signature dish). Two viewings, one a no, the other looks hopeful (fingers crossed).
Happy Sunday everyone

snowing?Shock!

BD, fingers crossed, againSmile

Herbs, I've been out two nights on the trot too, but I managed to avoid any hangover (must be a small miracle!)

DS is watching the rugby in his PJ's with DH after coming in like a drowned rat from footy, and DD has gone to Pecknaaam with her mate to see Woman in Black - hope we don't have a revisitation of the toddler nightmares tonight - "mummy, daddy, I've had a bad dreeeeeeeeeam!"

All the emulsioning done in the kitchen, just need to start on the glossing... feeling like I've had a very productive weekend for a change!

MrsSchadenfreude · 04/03/2012 20:37

Have had quite a productive day, including a nice long sleep this afternoon. Have made Black Bottom muffins for next week, and am wondering if I have room to poke one in now. But it probably wouldn't go that well with wine...
