omg yes - I love my primers. I've tried lots- smashbox photofinish, bare escentuals prime time, mally poreless, laura geller spackle, murad, no7....my favourite is the mallybut it is all down to your skin care concerns...oily skin, dry, wrinkly, big pores etc,

flipflopflap · 16/02/2012 18:37

Watching thread with interest, I've got pretty dry/ combo skin and have never tried a primer! It's all a bit new to me Blush

dexter73 · 16/02/2012 18:53

I do - No.7 airbrush away, it is very good.

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 16/02/2012 19:11

I alternate between No.7 airbrush and Avon magix (surprisingly good). Wouldn't be without one now.

Chicinwellies · 16/02/2012 19:21

I love my YSL Primer - I have tried SO many, and it really is the best. I was sceptical before but now completely convinced! Also if looking for more of a highlighting quality the new L'Oreal BB style cream is great and my foundations stays on fantastically with this

therumoursaretrue · 16/02/2012 20:38

Yes love primer! Have tried loads of different ones too. Like Smashbox Photofinish (they do fantastic colour-correcting ones) but when I use silicone based make up I switch to Airbase. Can also recommend the Daniel Sandler one, but like mrsmartin says it really does depend on your skin. Try getting a few testers and trying them out before you commit.

Primer is great even if you don't wear alot of make-up as it will smoothe out the texture of your skin which makes it look instantly better and gives added protection from dirt and product getting down into your pores and loads of them also contain SPF.

pollyblue · 16/02/2012 21:51

Yep, I love Estee Lauders matte base - have just ordered Avon's magix as have heard good things about it, and it's half the price of the EL.

ELs base really minimises pores and makes powder "stick"!

EllenParsons · 16/02/2012 22:32

I always use one and definitely think it's worth it. They stop makeup sinking into pores and keep everything looking good for longer. My favourites are Smashbox Photofinish and MAC prep + prime SPF 50. My makeup is all still on by the end of the day with those.

Laura Mercier primer also alright but I don't like the consistency as much. No 7 primer seemed good when I tested on my hand, but unfortunately it broke me out.

monkeysmama · 17/02/2012 10:47

I keep looking at the Smashbox ones but am confused by the names. I have pores I want to cover up and tend to use mineral foundation. Any suggestions?

CMOTDibbler · 17/02/2012 10:50

I use L'oreal studio effect, and it fills in my pores a treat

Haziedoll · 17/02/2012 10:50

People have recommended primers on here before. What are they?

FoxPass · 17/02/2012 11:17

Is Avon Magix good for oily skin?

KateSpade · 17/02/2012 12:09

I had a No7 Primer, and hated it. So that went on Ebay,

I like the Clarins Beauty flash balm, but thats not for everyday wear - Lisa Eldridge told me.

So, Ive not been using anything for a while, watching with interest.

Housewife2010 · 17/02/2012 14:51

I've just tried the NIP+Tuck primer & when applying my tinted moisturiser over the top my skin feels fantastic - so smooth & silky & perfect.

DapperDanMan · 17/02/2012 21:06

Avon magic is great for my oily patches as well as drier bits. It makes my skin look so much more even, I wear it every day at the mo.

But clarins beauty flash balm makes my skin look fab too- apparently the trick is not to rub it in, an apply foundation immediately afterwards. Works for me, just seems to make it "zing" a bit- no idea how better to describe it! But more expensive so only buy on my bday.

greedygoose · 20/02/2012 14:18

Thanks for all these replies - sorry I am late returning! I am liking the sound of this as had tried a sample in my glossybox and loved it - was murad I think? May try No.7 and Nip+Tuck with my Boots points now... Smile
