Sick of boots. What shoes do you wear for every day?

I cant wear ballet flats for too long as the soles of my feet get too painfull. I cant totter about in heels. What do you wear to go shopping/lunch in. For the first time in a long time, I need to sort my shoe situation out! Smile

Its lovely to wake up and see that my thread is 3 pages long Smile

What are we to do then? Oh, and has anyone mentioned bunions yet? I have one and it doesnt help when trying to find something semi stylish. I blame my misspent youth on that one.

I really cant seem to get away from Boots and have been looking at these www.clarks.co.uk/p/20347901 but, IM not sure how easy they would be to walk in.

When did Clarks get so expensive, by the way?

Those boots are quite nice Brightness, but not in this colour Shock

Levantine · 16/02/2012 16:29

I quite like those dingdong, but they are a teeny bit middle aged.

I really want to know the answer to this too so am lurking with interest

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 16/02/2012 17:16

I like the ones Sweetheart posted, but again, no way I could walk any distance in those heels, too high and too pointy.

I also don't like ankle straps, make my already stumpy legs look even shorter .

mrsmartin · 16/02/2012 18:20

Hi whoknows- top pieces are the little rubber/plastic caps that go on the end of your heels. They are there to act as shop absorbers and to provide a replaceable section of the heel so that the shoes last (if there weren't top pieces then the heels would just wear down until you had to throw the shoes away).

And my life isn't glamourous - I work in an office but I put on 3stone in a year and have gone up to a size 12 - my face and my feet are the only things that haven't turned against me so I treat them lovingly....Wink

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 16/02/2012 18:34

MrsM ah, I see, yes I know what you mean, just never knew what they were called. Well, you sound glamourous with your shoe collection, I am very envious! I personally find my hair and nails are the two bits that have least turned against me.

I feel a lot better knowing it is not just me with this shoe dilemma!

chandellina · 16/02/2012 18:38

The Clarks yarra boots are super comfortable. I avoid uncomfortable heel heights at all costs but you can truly walk long distances in these.

Clarks also do some ballet flats with supportive rubber heels that aren't dead flat.

BrightnessFalls · 16/02/2012 19:09

I would never have shopped in Clarks in my younger days. How times change.....

Lurking with interest until you all find the answer for me!

I have to wear merrell trainers at the mo due to orthotic inserts and a knee op. doesn't look the best for work though.

I need nice brogues. Some not too manly ones, in tan leather, that don't cost over £40!

BeehavingBaby · 16/02/2012 19:27

Flat brogues or fly wedge shoes here.

Razamataz · 16/02/2012 19:48

I've just discovered a gorgeous shoe brand called Esska - www.esskashoes.com. There are some lovely mid-heel leather styles. Just ordered four pairs in the sale (don't tell DH).

naturelover · 16/02/2012 19:54

This thread is very close to home. I feel like I have been searching for non-frumpy comfortable shoes for about half my life. I'm down to one pair of Converse and one pair of boots (that leak in wet weather!) Am desperate for shoes!

I have never understood the stereotype of women loving shoes. I bloody hate shoe shopping.

Have huge feet with slight bunion on one foot. Had bunion surgery on other (severe) foot last year. Nothing fits.

I am going to take a look at Next because their Sole Survivor range seems promising. Otherwise I'm confined to Clarks I think.

In summer I lived in Scholl toe-post sandals (because of bunion) but this summer since bunion surgery I should hopefully be able to try other sandal styles. But I don't think summer is a problem judging by this thread - it's the (long) season between boot and sandal weather that is so tricky isn't it?

I have considered a trip to London especially to look here: www.bluevelvetshoes.com/product.php?id=6 Anyone shopped there?

Magicmayhem · 16/02/2012 20:18

I asked this question the other day... have come up with these... what do you reckon

sonicrainboom · 16/02/2012 20:44

This thread is full of high heeled shoes Confused
This what a low heel looks like: goodbyefolk.com/wp-content/gallery/blue_vagabond/vagabundo_azul2of-3.jpg

travailtotravel · 16/02/2012 20:45

Naturelover, that looks really interesting ... !

BlackCatsAndPurpleDogs · 16/02/2012 20:47

I would not wear leather shoes. It is untrue that synthetic shoes are not as good.

THESE are the comfiest shoes I have EVER had on my feet.

dingdong3 · 16/02/2012 21:00

I have unexpectedly found my in-between shoeboots! So pleased. Wasn't even looking but was passing by Dunnes Stores a couple of hours ago and spotted them. One pair left in my size! Not too booty and not too shoey and hopefully not too middle aged levantine Wink
Am so excited, I blogged about them
Sorry girls, but was the easiest way to share a picture of them as they are not on the Dunnes website.

shopafrolic · 16/02/2012 21:14

Take a look at the Mary Portas range for Clarks. They have extra squishy insoles and reasonable heel heights in funky colours / leathers.

startail · 16/02/2012 21:18

£99 for Clarks!!!

Levantine · 16/02/2012 21:21

Oh I like those!! I liked the other ones too, I had to sort of check myself really. My mum would have worn them and she is a quite stylish sixty something

dingdong3 · 16/02/2012 21:25

Thanks Levantine...I agree...we need to step away if they look like something our mums would wear. It's a slippery slope Grin

Levantine · 16/02/2012 21:42

Yy especially now I am 40

PippiL · 16/02/2012 21:44

BlackCat sorry those shoes are fugly!

Not that I can talk cos I am wearing trainers at the mo.

mrsmartin · 16/02/2012 21:46

clarks are for babies and nannas...

jackierussell · 16/02/2012 22:16

www.landsend.co.uk/Women%27s-Cap-Toe-Ballet-Shoes/P_9924,en_GB,pd.html

Naturelover these from the dreaded Lands End look quite similar but cheaper, have a pair of last seasons which have worn well.
