I cant wear ballet flats for too long as the soles of my feet get too painfull. I cant totter about in heels. What do you wear to go shopping/lunch in. For the first time in a long time, I need to sort my shoe situation out! Smile

I wouldn't mind seeing what these look like on.

I have two pairs of Fly wedge sandals which are fabulous. Just too summery to wear at the moment. They do look better on than on the shelf, and they last years.

Francagoestohollywood · 16/02/2012 12:55

I think that Topshop and Office are the place to look for more or less affordable shoes that don't make you look like an OAP.

mrsmartin · 16/02/2012 12:58

tk maxx all the way - it can be abit hit n miss but when I just pop in once a week and it is where I get most of my designer bargains - versace snakeskin courts for £50 - yes please Wink

Quenelle · 16/02/2012 12:58

I like those herbaceous a bit more ladylike than the ones I just linked to.

But Flys are sooo comfy...

tethersend I read your post as 'Am wearing them happily at nearly 70mpg' Grin

DingbatsFur · 16/02/2012 13:06

in red...

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 16/02/2012 13:06

Have been going to TX Maxx for years and never found anything that meets all my criteria unfortunately.

Do Office have shops? Or is it just online. I have to try so many pairs before I find anything that fits that online is fairly hit and miss for me, I would spend my entire life taking things back.

mrsmartin · 16/02/2012 13:07

office have loads of shops and concessions too.

Francagoestohollywood · 16/02/2012 13:15

I never found anything I liked at TKMaxx when I lived in the UK.
I now miss Topshop a lot, as I found some gems there. I still get complimented for a pair of shoes I got there yrs ago.

Francagoestohollywood · 16/02/2012 13:17

I have many friends who love Camper shoes, as they are comfy and quite quirky.
I am not too keen though.

Tehtersend, I was looking at those earlier in the blue, how comfy are they?

Loving the Fly sandals but in the green :)

tethersend · 16/02/2012 13:45

Amazingly comfy, foof.

I am going to get a pair in the blue too.

higamoushogamous · 16/02/2012 13:48

I'm vegetarian and never buy leather bags, but when it comes to shoes plastic ones always hurt my feet, so except in the summer when I can wear flip flops etc. I always buy leather boots and shoes.

mrsmartin · 16/02/2012 14:21

I wear my super spindly heels for work but I keep them at work and walk in wearing something more practical - purely to save on top piece costs! I think I have about 15 pairs at work atm so it works well for me - sexy high heels at the office, chic kitten heels for the walk to the office. It is pretty simple really....

dingdong3 · 16/02/2012 14:22

I like tethers ones but I find it hard to walk in anything with a skinny heel, even if it's low. What do you think about these ? Can't decide if they are horrendous or have potential

FoofFighter · 16/02/2012 14:39

I think I will go and see if they have them instore Tethersend, definitely need to try them on as cannot do flat and cannot do too high due to foot drop/not being able to flex ankle much and am living in a pair of Caterpillar walking boots which is kind of limiting my wardrobe right now!

thanks :)

herbaceous · 16/02/2012 14:43

I think Clarks is the way forward, but in your particular instance Foof think that if the website says 'eyecatching' once should beware!

What about these babies?

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 16/02/2012 14:45

What do you mean by top piece costs MrsM? . Your life sounds very glamourous compared to mine!

I don't need smart for work, luckily, it is a totally casual dress code for me and I drive to work anyway, it is more for walking the DCs to school and all their activities, walking into town etc so, flat and comfy rather than smart. I will search out an Office shop I think.

dingdong3 · 16/02/2012 14:46

BTW, use the code 'BEQUICK' at checkout at Clarks this weekend for 20% of full priced shoes Smile

sweetheart · 16/02/2012 15:01

May I suggest a neutral, low heeled shoe boot they can be worn with skirts or trousers and keep your feet warm - you may even be able to sneek a pair of trainer socks on inside them!

londonlottie · 16/02/2012 15:11

Have been looking through the links on this thread with interest as I am also bereft in the wearable shoe stakes. Trouble is I don't LIKE any of them. I know they're expensive but what about something like this in terms of style? I just can't bear the clumpiness of lots of these, but at the same time also hate kitten heels which as others have said get ruined in no time.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 16/02/2012 15:17

I once bought some low wedges a bit like some of those suggested here, imagining that they'd be really comfortable, but they were even worse than normal heels. Confused I felt as if I was stepping out of them all the time and the wedges made them feel heavy and unwieldy on my feet.

I know it's not warm enough for ballet flats and bare feet yet, but how about ballet flats with a skirt/dress and good thick tights?

herbaceous · 16/02/2012 15:18

I like those, sweetheart, but to me that isn't a 'low' heel. I'd still suffer something terrible with the ball of my foot... And trying not to turn my ankle over on a cobble.

MrsGypsy · 16/02/2012 16:10

Herbaceous I love those shoes from Clarks but ankle straps...........gotta be careful with the length of skirt or it can go horribly wrong. sweetheart I was wearing those exact same ones in black to work, back in 1996. Was I ahead of my time, or am I just a geriatric?

Don't answer that. :(
