...what one item would you save and why?

For me it would be the leopard print Mulberry bag my DH gave me on our wedding day, as he chose it all by himself (rare) and it has such special memories attached to it.

Er, I would be secretly pleased as I need some new clothes but if I was grabbing something it would be the dress I intend to wear to my brothers wedding in the summer because it was expensive!

dingdong3 · 15/02/2012 07:57

Can honestly say there's nothing I'd save as I have no one-off amazing items of clothing that I couldn't live without or that have sentimental value. How shallow of me Blush Almost everything I have can all be bought again with the insurance money.

bagelmonkey · 15/02/2012 08:01

I can't think of anything. I should probably have a clear out.

FGM · 15/02/2012 17:46

ooh, I had an almost visceral reaction to this:

My eternally beautiful VW Anglomania silk "dancing" dress.

NeverKnowinglyUnderstood · 15/02/2012 17:51

thought I would say my wedding dress but tbh have been thinking about what to do with it recently and that would be an answer.
aside from that it would be my precious jewellery that is stored in a secret compartment in the wardrobe for all those burglers out there

madammecholet · 15/02/2012 17:53

My granny's jewellery & all my handbags Grin

dexter73 · 15/02/2012 18:06

Nothing - tbh I would love the chance to start again with a big cheque!!

FoofFighter · 15/02/2012 18:08

My hallowe'en outfit from last year as I looked damn hot in it even if I do say so myself!

The rest I wouldn't miss as it doesn't match/fit and I could buy a whole new load of things with the insurance :)

gregssausageroll · 15/02/2012 18:10

Same as Madame.

I might need a skip outside to contain said handbags but there you go.

crazyaccountant · 15/02/2012 18:18

I'm with Gregs on this one would require pre warning of said fire to arrange container to be delivered for the handbag collection! Couldn't see the louboutin's go up in smoke either but the rest of it fine, quite happy for an excuse to hit the shops! Grin

mrsmartin · 15/02/2012 18:42

I'd save my zannoti's and an aquascutum (not sure if that is how it is spelt but cba to check) cashmere camel trench - That way I would be warm and well-heeled when I went shopping with the insurance check Wink

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/02/2012 19:31

There are no dc hiding in the wardrobe pretending to be in Narnia, right? because obviously I'd save them first! :) Okay, just clothes then?

Only one? In that case it had better be the handbag that dp bought me for my birthday a few weeks ago.

Pmsl at Foof saving her Halloween outfit. :)

If we're cheating and having more than one item (I mean YOU MadameCholet) I will save: my VW Anglomania dress, my VW Red Label skirt, my VW violet silk top and my new biker jacket.

Is that the oasis biker jacket you mentioned on another thread remus? if so, think I have the same one. Fabulous for the price I thought!

OP posts:
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/02/2012 20:40

Yep - mine is a chocolate brown biker jacket. It's gorgeous and was a total bargain (although dp disagreed!).

AmberNectarine · 15/02/2012 20:48

I've got the black version, which has not been on sale, though DH bought it for me as a gift so mustn't grumble. Glad weather has improved so I can wear again!

OP posts:
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/02/2012 20:54

:) I've been wearing mine with a big fake fur collar even when it was freezing!

JustHecate · 15/02/2012 20:55

nothing. I'd just get everyone the hell out of the house before we burned to death and get myself a whole new wardrobe with the insurance money.

Grin
Punchthosecalories · 15/02/2012 20:59

It would be my professional belly dancing dress which was made for me in Cairo. I only kept one. I'm nowhere near ever performing in public again as my tiger tummy from two children and the extra weight plus just moving on with life has closed that chapter of my life

RedwingWinter · 15/02/2012 21:06

I'd grab my coat to wear whilst waiting outside for the fire brigade. Or if I had a bit more time, the same as MmeCholet - my gran's jewellery and my handbag (singular).

joanofarchitrave · 15/02/2012 21:08

Possibly my Wolford corset as i'm much too sensible to buy it again and I had some good times in it Smile

trixymalixy · 15/02/2012 21:09

My Gran's pearls and a simple grey shift from Zara with pleating round the neck that cost me £15 in the sale that is incredibly flattering.

Noir · 15/02/2012 21:12

My Burberry Trench - a timeless classic and a piece that has a lot of significance for me.
