Would it be easy for me to make a netting skirt to wear under another skirt?

I am going to a grease night I have a skirt but need to fuff it up a bit Smile

I need a netting skirt but the are so expensive on ebay. Could I use net curtain or is there special dress making netting and would I just sew onto elastic?

PS I have never made anything accept knitted jumpers for the third world.

Can you do a running stitch ? Cos ifyou can, its easy. You'll need lots of dressmakers net, and a petticoat to stitch it onto. Then cut the net into 6 inch wide strips stitch some together to get 5m on one thread. Then take 15m and gather it onto the other. Then stitch partway down the petticoat (otherwise you get a huge bum).

I love big rustly petticoats !

I did this to a dress for dd,I stitched it directly onto the dress by pleating it at the top to create shape, bought the netting from a haberdashers.

this is more the sort of thing you need

It's easy enough to do but net curtain is quite soft, this is stiff
