Overnight hairstyles - do they really exist?

Okay.. So I've posted before about easy updo's as I'm panicking planning ahead for returning to work from maternity leave. I have shoulder length, wavy/curly hair which doesn't wear well on the 2nd day & has layers which makes ponytails look rubbish. I've been eyeing up tutorials on youtube for overnight bun curls, rag curls and rope curls & wondered if anyone has tried them? The rag curls look a faff but the other two seem like I could manage them even after a few glasses of wine with dinner. Do people really do these things in real life??

I quite often wash my hair in the morning and put it in a sock bun and then sleep in it that night and then have lovely curls and waves the next day.

I don't sleep in curlers but I do have a couple of tips for quick hair styles.

First up is a curling wand - mine is the remington pearl. If I curl my hair with that the curls last until i wash them so If I want to wear my hair curly I curl before going to bed (without seperating the curls) and then just brush through with oil in the morning.

Also, I have the Ken Paves Style-a-do's. My hair is dyed black so the R2 colour is a perfect match for my own hair but if I am in a hurry I chuck my hair up into a bun and then twist a couple of the style-a-do's around the bun - people think I have spent hours on my hair and I don't bother to correct them.

I do them! I do the sock bun for curls - but it only works now that my hair is quite long (about three inches past my shoulders) with not many layers. When it was shorter and layered the layers always used to fall out when I was asleep and I'd end up with half curly, half straight hair.

This is my latest easy updo: Volume Bun It's not an overnight one but it's pretty quick and stays put all day. I don't bother with the hairband though. Great if you've got fine hair but want a big messy bun.

Thanks everyone. Think I need to grow my hair a bit to do the sock bun overnight but will try the rope braids when I can be arsed this week. I've managed to perfect a scruffy version of which works well with my next day waves and looks boho (providing you don't do it neatly like she does). I've left some wispy curls falling down and have a floppy flower hair clip I put over the hole (Hmm) & it looks pretty - honest!
