Can I just buy some almond oil or do I need something more professional? Any recommendations?

I would go for sweet almond oil, most cuticle oils contain it as well as baby oil

Bought opi avoplex- it comes in a tube thing with a brush. Really handy- I keep it in the car. Would buy it again - the ultimate test!

I second opi avoplex - have been using that alongside the avoplex exfoliator and the nail envy for a year and my ragged neglected fingers now look pretty damn good. It also smells lovely. You can get a mini bottle off ebay for about £4 if you want a way to try it on the cheap - just buy off a top rated seller - they are genuine

Nails Inc do it in pens so easy to keep in your bag and apply when you remember.

I have the genuine opi at home (by the bed, the sofa and every sink) and the fake opi nail oil pens from ebay (they are about £1.50 so not genuine but the oil works well and it means I can have one in every handbag). Boots do their own oil pens and they are about half the price of the opi and nails inc ones. The nails inc one is best for playground one-upmanship - they look pretty sexy!!

I get horrendous cuticles and find Solar Oil (by CND, Amazon about £5) is fantastic. Highly recommended.

You can get solar oil in places like home bargains for £1.99 a bottle.
