In desperate need of help, what to buy maternity clothes too big and awful and old clothes too small. Would like to buy a few things to wear while I loose the baby weight as I feel gross. Don't want to spend too much and need to be bf friendly - suggestions please!

H+M have some great breast feeding tops, I've lived in them for the past 12 weeks!

I bought a cheap pair of jeans - New Look have nice ones for £9.99. I only wore them for about a month but it was bliss to have a lovely nice pair that fitted properly. Tunic tops are good - look for V-necks, scoop-necks or henley-style tops for bfing in. They will also skim over your tummy and look nice with jeans or leggings.

I just bought cheap things like this: www.peacocks.co.uk/product/index.jsp?productId=5130521&prodFindSrc=paramNav - forgiving but still nicer than slobbing in tracky bottoms and maternity tops!

Thanks brianbutterfield good idea to stock up on some cheap tops. Feels like a viscious circle, feel gross so eat rubbish! Think if I looked a bit nicer to start with I might muster the strength to start shifting the pounds.

Also look out for jersey dresses and see if they suit you, I buy them after being pg and tumble dry them to make them shrink a little as I gradually lose weight. They tend to be a bit kinder around the waist too.

White stuff and fat face quite often do tunics in jersey and roomy knitwear too. At this time of year you can layer up a bit to flatter your tummy too.

I second the jeans idea. I am in my fat day jeans and it feels so good not to be in maternity any more! V necks flattering if your bust is bigger. As I am bf have wrap tops to wear with cardigans and wrap dresses which are flattering. Empire line again flattering as you don't want anything clinging to your belly. If bf and want a nice jumper I can recommend the Milker ones.

I second getting some cheap jeans. I loved being out of maternity jeans even if the non-maternity ones I got were size 16 :-( Wrap tops & smock tops worked well on me as they hid the tummy, particularly the muffin top. I hated proper breastfeeding tops so just bought loads of vests and wore them under my tops. When feeding, I'd push the top up & pull the vest down so was still suitably covered for feeding in public.
