Very dull black trouser question

IAmRubyLennox · 03/02/2012 19:14

I would really like some slim fitting, ankle length black trousers to wear with ballet pumps, little cardigans etc.

Which are better, these Vero Moda ones or these Boden ones?

Or something else?

They're for work, btw, so I do have a few concerns that the first pair are a bit to Sandy-from-Grease, no?

the vero moda ones seem to be quite high waisted. Look at the back picture. Is that what you want?

I am definitely not keen on the Boden ones.

Is high-waisted good or bad if you have a tummy? Usually try to avoid low-rise things because of overhanging flesh, but I don't know if high-waisters would make me look like <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=tweedle+dee+and+tweedle+dum&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&rlz=1C1CHFX_en-GBGB468GB468&biw=1366&bih=667&tbm=isch&tbnid=hjkvoSaTxk5IRM:&imgrefurl=www.alice-in-wonderland.net/pictures/tweedledee-tweedledum-pictures.html&docid=lMZQTmskD_ihVM&imgurl=www.alice-in-wonderland.net/alicepic/through-the-looking-glass/2book18.jpg&w=1357&h=1059&ei=hTQsT5fhD6iw0QXMlbmtCA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=634&vpy=185&dur=224&hovh=198&hovw=254&tx=153&ty=116&sig=118420383790558045689&page=1&tbnh=138&tbnw=177&start=0&ndsp=22&ved=1t:429,r:3,s:0" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this

well, in the picture from the Vero Moda site, the model's bottom looks like it goes on forever. You can see from the front that she's really skinny, but I don't like the look from the back. If you are not extremely happy with your tummy and bottom, I would go for something slightly less high waisted. But that's just my opinion. Anyone else?

what about something like this

QueenCadbury · 03/02/2012 19:42

Have you tried gap? They do straight leg trousers which fit nicely although if short of leg like me they may be too long! They may have cropped ones in for summer though.

IAmRubyLennox · 03/02/2012 21:05

Those ASOS ones are the shape I want, but I wonder what the fabric will be like for the price? Will have a look at Gap, I'm quite tall so I'm not too worried about the length!

I'd second Gap. They have a range called The Best Balck Trousers Ever, or something. They come in a range of styles, including cropped. They are, imo, the best black trousers ever.

Btw, those of us short of leg just roll up the bottom a bit (to give a cuff) and away we go. Of course, if we're being super-organised, we take them up proper,y, with stitches and everythign!!

I really, really love Gap black trousers.

IAmRubyLennox · 03/02/2012 21:11

I really like these

I'm sure those are (one of!) the pairs I have, Ruby. They are so flattering.

MrsSheeran · 03/02/2012 21:22

Others of us take up the said Gap trousers with wonder web but do it on the wrong side! Fab trousers though and I'm looking forward to wearing them when I've found my permanent black maker pen and coloured the white wonder web in!

bigTillyMint · 03/02/2012 21:22

I have those Gap ones (or Gap ones very similar from last season) - they are really flattering.
