Parabens-free deodorant

I was just wondering if anyone was able to recommend a good one?! I've just bought some of the Dr Organics manuka honey roll-on stuff and it's crap. My armpits just smell of sweaty honey now. And at £4.49 a pop, I'm not impressed!

If you use one, can you tell me which please? :)

I like Toms (smells nice) and Pit \rock crystal (no smells but effective)

the body shop ones are paraben free, iirc, but are not as good imo.

I have been using a Garner one which states no parabens - will post the proper name later when I get a chance.

Green People or Toms. You might feel a bit sweaty for a few days but then it works really well.

I'm abroad, so don't think they stock the particular brand in the UK, but is essentially one of those rock crystal things. You do sweat (blocking the glands is bad, apparently) but never smell.

I was slightly peturbed at first by the lentil-ness of it, but wanted to try to reduce chemicals on skin as pregnant and it has seen me through a 50 C summer with nary a whiff.

I use a natural deodorant stone and find it works extremely well. Yes, you sweat but then you are supposed to. There is no smell. With the links between breast cancer and the aluminium in roll on deodorants I'd advise all women to think about what they use. My deo stone only costs £2.77 and they last for months!!

I use Vaseline Active Fresh & think it is a very good deodorant & anti-perspirant & it is paraben free. Not expensive either & available in all chemists & supermarkets.
The Sanex range are also paraben free, but I don't think they are quite as good at the anti-perspirant thing.

Toms is really good (which you can buy in most health shops) but when I get the chance I buy Dr Hauschka deodorant - which is fab but only stocked in a few shops like John Lewis or you can buy on-line www.drhauschka.co.uk/products/body-care/deodorants

It's good stuff. I use the roll on.
You do sweat - that's the point of no anti perspirant - and so eventually it will smell but I think my body is used to it now. I always carry wipes and a little thing of perfume just in case.

Do you just want no parabens or are you going for non anti perspirant too? I was always told that the real baddie is anti persp. Not that I fully believed it, but anything that stops you sweating must be quite strong and chemically powerful.

PitRok is awesome

I'm using Ice guard ( Holland and Barrett) which supposed to be natural crystal, still sweating though, which is ok as I started to use underarm pads.

I've just been looking at how to make your own. Apparently all you need is cornstarch and baking soda...

Another Bionsen fan here. I prefer the spray to the roll-on, though.
DH uses PitRok, and it works really well.

Dr Hauschka floral is gorgeous although doesn't last all day. Apparently pitrock is the most effective aluminium and paraben free one

imho, Green People Deodorant Rosemary Roll is better than Dr Hauschka, which I didn't even live the smell of. Tisserand Deo Wild Rose & Lemon is ok too but comes in a heavy bottle which is annoying for travel. Green People and Tisserand sold by ocado if that helps.

I've used aluminium free for about 15 years and I've actually tried every one of those mentioned in this thread... I've come to accept that none of them 'work' in the way an aluminium deodorant works ie remove all trace of natural smell and stop you sweating. I just revert to aluminium on a few days a year such as long summer weddings/ boiling days involving the tube. One tip a lentil weaving friend told me was to use a couple of drops of coriander essential oil under the arms if caught out on sweaty days, it seems to neutralise that really pungent smell one occasionally gets.

I don't think that you should use anything that stops you from sweating or block sweat from coming out as sweating is natural process. To mask the odour is different thing and each body react differently on different deodorants. I suppose you have to find out which suits you best.
