Any experienced leg epilators out there?

I've been using my new epilator for a couple of months, only on my lower legs so far.

Trouble is I don't think I'm getting the results I should be getting. The hair seems to grow back at the rate it would if I'd electric shaved them although maybe not as many growing IYSWIM.

Is that because they are not all being ripped out by the roots epilated each time so are therefore growing back at different staggered rates?

I have been epilating for about 10 years now and still find that my legs are only truly hairless for about a week, but the hairs are really sparse so they look ok (ie for wearing skirts or shorts) for 2-3 weeks and don't usually bother me enough to do them again before 4 weeks. I have a lot of body hair generally though, and when I was shaving, would have to do so at least twice a week.

Epilating every week for a month/six weeks can help to even out the hair growth so more start growing at the same time.

Thanks thistledew.

Should the hairs be less coarse and less spiky by now too or does that come later? I'm sure I've read that they should be finer but mine are still very dark and thick.

I shave mine and then epilate a couple of days after. That helps the epilator to grab them out at the right length, and the hairs don't break off rather than get ripped out.

Agree with shaving first and epilating the 2-day growth, as the hairs seem 'stubbier' and thus easier for the epilator to grab properly.

I used to epilate my whole leg regularly (pre DS, when I had nothing but time), but for the past year or so have only been shaving my lower legs. Even after a year I'm still finding the hairs on my upper leg to be really sparse, in fact some haven't grown back at all.

And I'm usually reaaaaally hairy.

Thanks for the tips.

I'll try the shave then wait 2 days I think

Re the growing back more sparsely thing, ime this possibly applies to the thinner lighter hairs (eg on upper legs, arms) but 25 years of waxing and epilating has had bugger all effect on the thicker darker hairs on my lower legs, which still flourish unabated...

Agree about shaving before epilating, and epilating on 2 successive weeks to 'catch' the hairs that were just under the skin on the first week.
