thought I would give it a go. Ive never liked the feel of make up, and dont like feeling like its not really me iykwim. but, I look a bit shit at the moment, so to try to inject a bit of fizz into my presentation, I shall be giving it a go.

bit scared.

I can't imagine life without makeup! I was just watching a movie about Jean Shrimpton and thinking I must do some flickey out eyeliner tomorrow!

Give the bb cream a go, get yourself a lovely pink blusher, maybe a pale gold eyeshadow ( v flattering), mascara and a lovely lipgloss. Bourjois makeup is great and you'd get all these for about 25 poinds. It will give you a lift. Makeup is fun, enjoy Smile

Have a look at lisaeldridge.com, she does great tutorials. She often looks tired and a bit washed out at the beginning and is transformed 10 minutes later!

chipmunksex · 27/01/2012 23:21

More importantly how is the bb cream? I thought it looked too expensive for me, but if it's really good...

SinicalSanta · 27/01/2012 23:35

what is bb cream and it seems to be everywhere all of a sudden. i know it's foundation but...?

VerityBrulee · 27/01/2012 23:45

Bb cream is foundation plus moisturiser plus serum plus sunscreen, so one thing to put on rather than four. Must try some myself. Limited range of shades though.

SinicalSanta · 28/01/2012 00:12

Thanks Verity Smile

OracleInaCoracle · 28/01/2012 09:47

I cant wear mascara (prone to styes) but usually save make up for special occasions (or shopping days)

I got the no7 BB cream with a £5 off voucher, got the medium (even though Im quite fair) because I have olive tones to my skin. I must say, it feels nice.

also wear the bb cream and I rarely bother with make up. Definitely makes a difference for very minimim effort. love it.

cyb · 28/01/2012 09:58

what coverage does bb cream have

Because I ahvent got enough make up Hmm

OracleInaCoracle · 28/01/2012 10:07

cyb, its a little heavier than tinted moisturiser. but lighter than a foundation. its covered my blotches beautifully without highlighting my flaky patch (dont I sound gorgeous this morning) I look fresher iykwim.

Sorry I will jack the trend and say I can't bear BB cream eugh.
Greasy with poor coverage and full of nasties.
I prefer separate moisturisers ,foundations with SPF and serums .

OracleInaCoracle · 28/01/2012 10:17

see, Im put off by all that. thats the appeal with the BB Cream, the fact that its all done in one fell swoop. I did try the garnier one, just a sachet, and I prefer the no7.

I have the No.7 BB cream too and I like it. Makes my skin look more even and it isn't at all heavy.

EllieorOllie · 28/01/2012 14:01

I have the No 7 BB cream in fair, the dry/extra dry version, and it is AMAZING. I still use some moisturiser under it because I have stupidly dry skin in the winter, but in the summer I imagine I won't need anything except the BB cream. It is fab stuff, I've almost given up using powder, and cream blush and eyeshadow glide beautifully over the top of it. Don't be scared of it! If you want to inject some colour as well but want a light, sheer look I would suggest Bloom which is available at superdrug. I have their 3in1 cream colour pot but they have lots of other yummy scrummy stuff as well.

Incidentally, don't ever get the Garnier BB cream, it sits on top of the skin and is oily and just generally urgh...

DharmaCeutical · 28/01/2012 14:08

I'd been put off BB cream by using a Garnier sampler.

I have skin that's olive but very pale (i.e. sallow) so not the limited range of No 7 shades makes me think they're catering from the standard English roses rather than the likes of me..

I do have a £5 off voucher so am tempted to give the Fair a whirl.

Lulumama · 28/01/2012 14:08

is it really that good? I bought a boots 17 BB cream and it's not that great IMO. just like a tinted moisturiser and certainly no coverage of blemishes. i like it as it shows my freckles, and don't look caked in make up, but still need spots to be covered..

OracleInaCoracle · 28/01/2012 14:19

Dharma, definately worth a go. your skin tone sounds a lot like mine and I went for the medium in the end, because it just gives my skin a bit of an oomph.

lulu, try it, its really fab. I dont feel greasy or made up at all.
any news on the hat?

BB cream is great! I like the garnier one - have alwasy hated foundation, and the bb cream gives a smooth covering, evening out skin tones.

ceebeegeebies · 28/01/2012 14:20

I am using the Boots no 7 one at the moment and it is ok - was using tinted moisturiser before and can't really notice the difference tbh.

However, it does seem to make my forehead (which is prone to greasiness anyway) look greasy very quickly (even if I have used a shine-free primer underneath) so am having to use powder on my forehead just to counteract this.

Tbh, as I suffered from acne from my early 20's upto a year ago (so 15 years) when I eventually found a solution - I love being able to not have to cake my face in foundation/concealer so I relish being able to use lighter stuff like tinted moisturiser/BB cream Grin

OracleInaCoracle · 28/01/2012 14:22

ceebee, which one did you go for? I am prone to spots at the mo so went for the oily skin version.

OP posts:
ceebeegeebies · 28/01/2012 14:23

I went for the oily one aswell as my skin (well my T-zone) does get greasy easily although not sure if that was right now as it seems to make the greasiness worse Hmm

Lulumama · 28/01/2012 14:33

ok, i have a £5 off voucher, so might well invest.
and no, no word on the hat

MissBerta · 28/01/2012 14:33

It sounds like it'd end up as a lovely grease slick on your face by 11am. Bloody Nora, moisturiser AND serum. Yikes, nobody's that dry of face.

chipmunksex · 28/01/2012 14:41

Greasy by 11 you say? Might work for me then, my skin is so dry I have to put more moisturiser on after I clean my teeth and my nose is still flakey.Hmm

MissBerta · 28/01/2012 14:42

Hope it works for you, chipmunksex!
