Superskinny jeans?

EustaciaVye · 26/01/2012 13:58

I'm 5'2 with quite skinny legs and small bottom, but lots of my weight is on my tummy and chest. I normally by size 14 petite skinny jeans but I'm finding that they are still baggy on my legs and a wrinkly look isnt great.

I've tried bootcut jeans too but there just seems to be lots of fabric making the very baggy. I think that although my waist is a 14 (and top a 16) my legs would actualy be a 10, if that helps.

Can anyone recommend some superskinny jeans? I'm hoping this is what I need. If you have alternative suggestions I'm all ears. :)

I'm a similar shape to you - skinny legs with a bit of extra weight on my tummy. I bought superskinny jeans at New Look and I love them. They were really cheap (less than £25), hold their shape well and theyre quite high waisted with a bit of stretch in them which work wonders for the bit of belly blub!

I have recently bought super-skinny at Primark and H&M because they have a higher waist than some other brands. Its too cold to expose any back or tummy at this time of year! The Primark ones were 8£ and are okay but they look a bit cheap - I wouldn't wear them to go out in. They H&M ones were in the sale half price at 20? and have a lot more stretch and look better quality. The legs on both are so skinny you could probably go up a size for comfort round the waist and not suffer in the leg.

Topshop Baxter or Gap legging jeans.

EustaciaVye · 26/01/2012 14:14

Thanks for answering.

I like the look of the New Look ones but they will be way too long.

I dont think H&M or Primark do short legs either :(

Have a look at Topshop 'Leigh' jeans. They're really soft and sit slightly higher than the Baxters. They also come in a 30" inside leg.

ArtVandelay · 26/01/2012 14:22

Sorry

What would happen if you got some really skinny jeans and just took them up? Does that throw out the cut of the leg completely?

Do M&S not do a jegging? They do a petite range and they aren't going to be making low slung hipsters now are they! I'm not making fun of you - I'm all about comfort these days myself :)

ArtVandelay · 26/01/2012 14:24

I'm sure H&M do a 28" leg anyway - they have a wall of jeans in my local store and seem to cover a lot of width / length combinations.

EustaciaVye · 26/01/2012 14:26

ArtVandelay - normal skinny jeans are too baggy from my thigh downwards so taking them up would fix the length but not the too much material problem.
I can look at M&S though...

chickenmug - 30" would be too long but I might be able to find someone to take them up if they fit everywhere else.

Amaretti - will look at Gap.

ArtVandeley - didnt know H&M did short jeans, so can go and look there...

Topshop do the leighs in a 28 leg in the petite range but they come up smaller round the waist than the regular sizes in my opinion

MrsMeow · 26/01/2012 14:54

Primark do do short leg, I've just bought a black pair of skinnies in there and saw them. Not sure what their short leg measurement is, but the regular ones I just bought are 32" - which is Strange actually as Next etc. are 32" for long length!

Mine were £11.

AgeingFop · 26/01/2012 15:22

You can take up skinny jeans no problem, but if you do it for more than an inch or so, you may also want to add more taper to the leg, from the knee to the ankle. You'll need to make sure that the jeans have a seam without show-through stitching on at least one side IYSWIM.

This may also solve the OPs original problem. Get a pair that fit waist to mid-thigh, then taper to the ankle as skinny as you like.

If you have sewing machine, give it a go with a Primark pair. There are loads of web-pages and YouTube videos showing you how.

I have some from French Connection, which are brilliant. Fit well and wash brilliantly.

QueenKong · 26/01/2012 15:50

I tried on some French Connection ones in their new season collection. They were very tight around the legs and they had them in a range of colours - normal denim, red, green, lavender in which my legs looked like a pair of very cold sausages. Think the jeans are called Tiffany.

celticlassie · 26/01/2012 16:14

Dorothy Perkins have great superskinny jeans which are very stretchy and massively flattering here. They're nicer on than they look in the pic!

EustaciaVye · 26/01/2012 18:13

I'm not sure I'd be that good with a sewing machine :)

Dont have a local French Connection. Like the look of the Dorothy perkins ones and seem to recall I used to wear DP jeans a lot pre-kids...

Queenkong - lavender jeans sound revolting.

MrsCampbellBlack · 26/01/2012 18:15

Ahem - I have just purchased lavender jeans and they are a thing of beauty

EustaciaVye · 26/01/2012 18:22

Grin they just wouldnt suit my colouring MrsCambellBlack. Am envious of your name btw.

MrsCampbellBlack · 26/01/2012 18:24

I rather like your name too - brings back doing my A'Levels Smile

bagelmonkey · 26/01/2012 18:26

I would whatever the opposite of recommend is the topshpp Baxter skinny jeans & M&S jeggings if you have thin legs.

MrsCampbellBlack · 26/01/2012 18:31

The baxters are more of a slim leg than a skinny and most definitely not a super skinny.

Seriously the leighs are super flattering and stay up all day too.

QueenKong · 26/01/2012 18:34

I love lavender jeans. It was the tightness rather than the colour of the fc ones that was unflattering. I'm going to look elsewhere for some.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 26/01/2012 18:34

Dorothy Perkins ones are great on my skinny legs. Am also 5'2 but with long legs for my height and buy their short ones rather than the petite ones.
