I have fallen hard for the Isabel Marant Betsys (ooch they make me feel broody, though have not yet viewed in RL) but I need a budget option if they get through the MN Approval Ring of Fire..

I hated them at first but they have grown on me and I now like them too even though in my head I know they're wrong and would look awful on me. Ash do some here but they are higher and a bit too chunky.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 25/01/2012 22:17

Sorry, no approval from here.

They look clumpy and I don't see the benefit of the concealed wedge.

NannyPlumIsMyMum · 25/01/2012 22:21

Mm I like them < esp as I am short >

GreyTS · 25/01/2012 22:25

I like, prefer the Ash ones though, would wear both.

cyb · 25/01/2012 22:27

No, no and erm, NO

Valpollicella · 25/01/2012 22:28

When you said wedge trainer I had visions of my old Schu platform wedge trainers returning Grin

I quite like those in Fleecy's link

Fleecy · 25/01/2012 22:31

I think I like the idea of wearing trainers so I look all effortless and casual but the wedge makes your legs look longer and thinner. And what's not to like about that? Wink

monkeysmama · 25/01/2012 22:33

I bought the Ash Thelmas a few Springs ago and have worn them a lot. I like them with skinny jeans. I have regular flat Ashs too and prefer the flat ones. They are a real love 'em or hate 'em boot. I've often been stopped and complimented on them though.

monkeysmama · 25/01/2012 22:33

They definitely do that Fleecy. Comfy too.

cyb · 25/01/2012 22:34

Oh I love a wedge. Just not a trainer wedge

they've got Cher Lloyd written all over them

Ha ha. You do have to be quite confident to wear them. I've had many a funny look in the park.

slug · 26/01/2012 11:45

Nope. My PE teacher in the early 80's wore them. They were ugly then and they are ugly now.

Whelk · 26/01/2012 17:37

I think they look good with skinnies and a bit of attitude!

glastocat · 26/01/2012 17:41

Hideous and HOW MUCH?!

FauxFox · 26/01/2012 17:47

No.

MuslinSuit · 26/01/2012 18:19

No.

But Topshop do Marant-esque ones now if you're keen - less investment for something you'll not get much wear out of.

ForwardOcho · 26/01/2012 19:53

I love 'em. I have these
I am short too.

samstown · 26/01/2012 22:08

I also thought you were talking about the old Buffalo platform trainers. When I arrived at uni and got my first student loan check, I went straight out and bought a pair of these bad boys

I LOVED them and wore them every day for three years!

samstown · 26/01/2012 22:09

*cheque!

springaroundthecorner · 26/01/2012 22:20

I had something similar to this in the 70's in denim. They were incredibly hard to run for the bus in after youth club Grin.

ForwardOcho 's ones are lovely especially given the better price. Not going to go there though, as expect they are difficult to drive in too. Hmm
