Started the year with the aim of remembering my pre children groomed self. So far so good.....however I have just finished the alpha gold skin care trio which has left my skin clearer and looking better than it has in ages. I want this to continue and was wondering if a clarisonic would help. But do they work? What ones you s&b ladies have and would you recommend them or do they not live up to the hype?

I have one, I used it for a while, it made my skin super cleansed and super smooth, however it also made it rather oily so I gave up and went back to a bit of soap and some slosh on some moisturiser for a beauty routine. I am not very good at sticking to these things anyway!

KateSpade · 25/01/2012 20:48

Their was a thread on this the other day, I'm not judging i mention because i wanted to start a thread on the clarisonic brush head. I bought mine in about November and have been cleaning it with warm soapy water once a week, as they say on the website, however i went to use it the other night, and it stinks of mould! its disgusting, i ensure its dry, ect. Not high-jacking just mentioning because I've not used it for around a week, and I've really notice a difference in my skin! Worth the money, deffo!

alwaysrunninginheels · 25/01/2012 20:58

So how often do you have to change the head? And are they expensive to replace? How does it make your skin feel??

Their around the £20.00 mark and on the clarisonic website it says ever 3-4 months, but it i purchased mine on the 21st of December, so its only been two! hmm...

alwaysrunninginheels · 25/01/2012 21:09

And to ask another question what one do you have??? Seem to be a few but not sure what one would be best.

On that Olay page, click on the 'see the proof' bit. What bollocks. How can that be proof?!

brighthair · 25/01/2012 23:46

I think I might give the olay one a try. Has good reviews on makeup alley too, and I can't afford the clarisonic

KateSpade · 26/01/2012 08:31

I have the Clarisonic Mia,
The only difference is the body brushes, which i would have liked to have got, but it was a good £50 cheaper than the regular. I ordered mine with Space NK, and if you spend over £100 you get a £5.00 voucher to use if you join the N-dulge rewards thing.

However - They won't let me blooming log in, so i can't order another brush head! ARGH!

VeryHungryKatypillar · 26/01/2012 13:00

Ooh, KateSpade you've answered the question I've just started a thread about. Thanks!

Are you going to go for it alwaysrunninginheels? I'm so tempted! Bit worried about it possibly making skin more oily - that's one of the reasons I want one, hope it will sort my horrendous t-zone out.

cyb · 26/01/2012 13:02

Have also posted on other thread that I bought the Rio Sonicleanse and love it

have been using for 3 days and my pores are noticeably clearer and smaller on my cheeks

cyb · 26/01/2012 13:03

here

VeryHungryKatypillar · 26/01/2012 13:27

Thanks cyb, looks so similar and I can't imagine performance and results vary a great deal. Smaller pores would be a bonus, particularly on forehead!

sedgieloo · 26/01/2012 13:29

Hi Alwaysrunning. I have the Clarisonic Plus. It has the benefit of the extra settings and takes a body brush. I got it on QVC they had a Today's Special Value and easy pay. You can return if you find the item does not suit you.

I think they do live up to the hype, you might be the only person to notice the difference (I mean that this is not going to make you look 10 years younger or anything) but you will notice improvements. What made me decide is looking at the reviews on QVC.com (USA one, not UK, there were over 1,000 reviews most giving 5 stars) and the same on Makeupalley.com again nearly 1,000 reviews all types of skin/age nearly all giving 5 stars. For a product this expensive and for all skin types I figured this was a really a good sign, and true enough I am really pleased with my purchase. My skin is feels so smooth in a 'polished' kind of way not a scoured exfoliated one! And also clearer. I see the point about more oil, I guess if pores are not blocked with dry/dead skin cells this might seem the case, but good products should help here, this is what I find anyway.

lepetomaine · 26/01/2012 13:35

I have a Clarisonic and I love it. I haven't had any problems with it smelling of mould or anything, I just rinse the brush in hot water and put the lid on. I do take the brush off and rinse the whole thing like it tells you to do.
Mine is the Plus I think, anyway you can put the body brush on it, which is actually really good. I got it on a deal from QVC with all the different brush heads and a load of their cleansers. They do an option to pay in 3 or 4 instalments too or I would never have managed to save up!
My pores look so much better, I have combination skin, very dry but with oily t zone with big pores. My nose in particular is hugely improved, until I got pregnant and blotchy I had given up makeup altogether my skin looked that good!
I started off using the white brush head but have recently had to switch to the blue one as pg is making my skin mental. DP likes the grey one, stops him getting ingrowing beard.

Get one I say! If I don't use it for a day I pine for it - just use it in the morning with Dove soap.

cyb · 26/01/2012 13:58

My skin does feel amazing now too. I even used it on the little bumps on my sons cheeks

cyb · 26/01/2012 13:59

Oh and my H said to me last night in bed after I had used it 'Are you wearing...make up?'

alwaysrunninginheels · 26/01/2012 17:27

Yes i am going to buy one. And i think the clarisonic rather than the others. I figure it sounds like it will last longer as it seems both of the other options. Cyb i love the idea of being asked if i am wearing make up....thats what sold it. Right off to look at the purchasing options...maybe QVC???
