Lush solid shampoo bars.

(Leaving the ethics of Lush aside)
Has anyone tried the solid shampoo bars? I'm thinking for travelling and holidays, so I would invest in the nifty little travel tin.
I've got shoulder length hair, permenant dye when I can be bothered. Texture, slightly wavy, not particularly fine. Tends to dry rather than oily.

Anyone recommend? TIA

I got one for DD for Xmas - she really loves it and her hair looks great - got one for greasy hair.
BUT - it has almost run out already and she only washes her hair 2 or 3 times/week so doesn't last like they say. will still probably get a replacement though Smile

I use the white one. 2 of them lasts nearly a year! The tins are a bit small, particulaely if you don't let them dry before you close them. I hate it when they get stuck!

brighthair · 25/01/2012 14:45

You only need a couple of swirls of it round your head and they're good for washing clothes with too
Lay a bit of ribbon over the bottom of the tin with the end hanging over before you put it in and use that to pull it out

YNK · 25/01/2012 14:57

Bright hair, you are a genius! Even though they are cheap I hate to lose one when I cant dig it out!

ENormaSnob · 25/01/2012 15:03

I have a yellowy coloured one with bits in.

It's ok, no better than any other shampoo IMO

Plus it pisses me off that I can't get it out of the tin.

I've been using Karma (the green one) in a tin for swimming for a good 10 years now. So much less space in the bag and so easy to use - I get the solid conditioner too, much less faff and I do find it lasts ages, don't need to use much and I've got quite thick shoulder length hair.

DarlesChickens · 25/01/2012 16:21

I use them and find they are really good. Before I start using one I break it in half and only have half in the tin, that way it's easy to get out and it seems to disintegrate much slower.

I find that if I just 'stroke' it down my hair the bar doesn't get yucky with hair stuck all over it either.

FYI I use Seanik (the blue one) which is the solid bar version of 'Big' the volume shampoo and it's brilliant.

RustyBear · 25/01/2012 16:26

kitkat - does your DD leave hers in the shower? I've been using them for years and they last ages, but I left my last bar in the shower and it dissolved from beiong wet all the time - if you let them dry quickly, they last for ages.

And if anyone from Lush is lurking - please bring back the Hard water solid shampo!

kpeople · 25/01/2012 16:29

Wow ive never heard of these, i think i might give them a go!

MeltedChocolate · 25/01/2012 17:14

Also going to give them a go!

kitkat1967 · 25/01/2012 19:48

hmmm -she has a tin to keep it in but maybe she is being a bit over-enthusiastic with her use of it - will see what she does next time she uses it.

thanks.

MrsMc82 · 25/01/2012 20:09

Ooooo I forgot about these, had one years ago that was great and lasted really well.....

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 25/01/2012 20:16

I use the yellow/orange one called Godiva when I'm in a rush or at the gym etc, and love it. It is meant to be a combined shampoo and conditioner and it does actually make my hair look shiny and conditioned, unlike every other 2-in-1 I've tried! Also it smells totally gorgeous.

I wish the tins were easier to open with wet hands though, I leave mine a bit open at home otherwise sometimes I can't get into it at all!

OvO · 25/01/2012 20:23

I've just finished the purple one - lasted 6 months! My hair is long and thick(ish) but I only ever needed a few swipes down the length of my hair and I'd get plenty of suds. Love them and really need to go buy a few.

PreHeatedOven · 25/01/2012 20:24

Mmm do they do one for oily roots and dry ends?
I'm quite interested as I cannot find a shampoo to me at the moment.

BornToShopForcedToWork · 25/01/2012 20:53

Hi,

I bought the "Ultimate Shine" one in November and I haven't been using it much. Maybe I am not using it properly but I get very dry scalp from it as well as dandruff from it. I also have the Jungle conditioner but I have a lot of hair and it doesn't work very well.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/01/2012 22:59

Thank You MNetters.

I'm going to nosey into Lush this weekend and smell a few.
I'm going away for half term week so I'll buy one for then.My parents live in a very soft water area (I live in hard water area) so I'll be rinsing forever. Grin
