Perfect 'basics' long sleeve tshirts?

OPeaches · 24/01/2012 20:32

I have some very well worn ones from Next - think they say Vera Moda in them? - they are a great fit but looking a bit old. I'm fed up of buying long sleeved Ts just for the sleevs to go all baggy and crap. I want a bit of lycra in there but not designed to be skintight.

Any suggestions?

GAP or M&S are usually quite good for things like that. I have some black 3/4 length sleeves from M&S that have kept their shape and fit really well. They have 'The Basic T-Shirt' on the inner label and are from their Limited Collection range I think.

henrythecat · 24/01/2012 20:39

Not normally a primark shopper but the one thing I do get there is the long sleeved tees - they wash amazingly well and have a little stretch, good range of colours. I would size down as they come up a little big imo.

stressheaderic · 24/01/2012 20:40

I bought 3 white cotton maternity ones from Next and have been wearing them ever since, DD is nearly 2 Blush
So comfy and bit longer so I can tuck into trousers.

ouryve · 24/01/2012 20:45

Next have some new ones in their range, this season - here - I have a couple and they're the nicest plain long sleeved tees I've had for ages. M&S still have their straightforward tees with long sleeves, but they do go very baggy.

I second Primark and had actually forgotten about them, until henry reminded me. Also v. good vests, all colours under the sun and wash and wear brilliantly imo. Good if you find tops generally sit a little short too as they're long in the body.

QueenCadbury · 24/01/2012 20:50

I've just discovered Dorothy Perkins ones after years of not going in there. But if like me are long in the body they are a great length (some are 70cm as opposed to 60 something). They also seem to keep their length when once washed. Otherwise h and m are good too.

bonzo77 · 24/01/2012 21:21

yes! dorothy perkins, though are 100% cotton, no lycra.

practicallyimperfect · 24/01/2012 21:23

I third primark. I have had some for years, they wash well and wear well.

ILoveOnionRings · 24/01/2012 21:25

I get mine from DPs too - I wear them under dresses and go for a size smaller than my normal tops.

FeathersMcGraw · 24/01/2012 21:27

amazingly I found some nice ones is Sainsburys

They were only £7 and fit lovely

CuppaTeaJanice · 24/01/2012 21:30

I was going to say Sainsburys too. The only place I have found which does a long sleeved t-shirt with a low neck.

nailak · 24/01/2012 21:35

primark

ceebeegeebies · 24/01/2012 21:44

I second Dorothy Perkins, but again, only because as another poster has said, they are very long which is brilliant for me. I often find standard t-shirts too short for me.

georgesmummy11 · 24/01/2012 21:53

H&M is great for basics I love their vest tops and T's they are about £4. Good quality material, wash well and are a decent length x

SkiBumMum · 24/01/2012 21:54

Oasis have nice ones

Popbiscuit · 24/01/2012 22:00

Gap and J.Crew are nice and thick and loooooong (my primary requirement). Can't be doing with any of those too-short tees that expose your waistband, in perfect 1992 style.

anniewoo · 24/01/2012 22:04

The white company. Expensive though.

KristinaM · 24/01/2012 22:35

Georgesmum -i agree abut h and m vest tops. The best ones are LOGG, avoid the Divided ones

brighthair · 24/01/2012 23:05

I have some of these which are nice and long, wash well too

Hairynigel · 25/01/2012 08:08

I love h&m LOGG tops. They fit great, snug without being skin tight. They keep the shape really well too.

mrsbossyboots · 25/01/2012 08:33

Going to look at Primark based on recommendations but would also suggest uniqllo - I'm 6' tall and their t-shirts fit perfectly ie no exposed muffin top!

alwaysrunninginheels · 25/01/2012 09:07

Another vote for primark. My mum insisted I try them when I was last pregnant....and I have never looked back. They wash well, are usually long and at £3 you don't worry about chucking them out if they get a bit dingy. Used to spend a lot more in gap and the white company on plain t shirts....but have since converted many friends and work mates!

wallpaperjo · 25/01/2012 09:51

Gap is the best quality for price point .... and you can wash it loads!

dexter73 · 25/01/2012 09:55

Agree that the Uniqlo ones are lovely.

toddlerama · 25/01/2012 09:56

H&M maternity. They aren't pleated around the stomach or anything, but they are a nice, long line and hold their shape really well. £7.99 I think.
